Hogar Crea

I had arranged with Hogar Crea to move my 80-year old mother from one apartment in Allentown to another. I spoke with the man in charge, Jamal, three times to make arrangements and provided him the full address as well as giving him a landmark--the apt my mother was moving from was just behind the Cetronia Fire Station. When I called the day before to confirm, I also provided my cell phone should he need to reach me the next day. He assured me he could find ithe apartment. When the agreed-upon time of 9 am passed, I waited until 9:30 to contact him. He indicated that he and his 7-man crew were lost and not able to locate the apt. I provided directions and he said they would be there in 20 minutes. When I contacted him at 20+ minutes later, he indicated that they were on Rt. 222. At this point, I inquired why he didn't have an Allentown map or use MapQuest to ensure he could arrive at the appointed location. He didn't like this and felt I was disrespectful. At about 10:15, it occurred to me that they were not coming. When he finally took my call about 10:30 am, he confirmed my fear. Because he could not find the apt and because he felt that I was disrespectul, he decided that he would not honor our agreement to move my mother. What I want to know is the following: How can a moving company set out for a job without a clear indication of how to get there (I had offered directions more than once)? Where is his respect for his job and being able to perform it? Where is his respect in honoring a commitment he made to do a job? Where is his respect in leaving an 80-year old woman in the lerch on Memorial Day weekend with everything packed and utilities shut off? While this situation worked out because I was able to rent a U-Haul for later that day and found movers through a church group in Allentown who were wonderful in every way--polite, hard working, and kind (and who were able to find the apt. without any problem), none of which was a small task and really a miracle, I would strongly recommend to anyone NOT to hire Hogar Crea. Like me and my mother, you could find yourself in an extremely difficult situation with little recourse. PS I should note that when Jamal informed that they were not coming, I said a phrase to him which I am not proud of but the frustration of the situation got the best of me.
