Amy's Patio Cafe

What an awful place! The owner and wait staff are rude, stressed out and nasty. I ordered coffee when I came in. I waited twenty minutes and then I asked the owner for coffee. She glared at me and then plopped a cup down on the table. I ordered eggs benedict without the sauce. The nasty waitress brought it to me 25 minutes later with the sauce. When I pointed it out she swooped away the dish, went to the kitchen, came out 10 minutes later with the sauce wiped off with a rag. She said that she did not want to wait to have them cook it over. When I told the owner, she called me a liar! The fruit on the plates was cut three days ago and left in it arrangement in the fridge. The parsley they put on your plate is wilted and brown. After a meal here you will be craving airline food. It is an insult to Altadena. Better to stick with Fox's. Low brow, but you get what you expect with out the creepy owner and staff of Amy's!

Had breakfast here with some friends on a recent Saturday and it was simply delightful. The service was prompt and pleasant, the menu selections plentiful, and the food prepared precisely. It may not seem like one could ruin something as simple as eggs, bacon and toast (with a side of breakfast potatoes), but I've seen it done before. That was not the case here. We asked for our eggs to be cooked over-medium and our potatoes well done, and that's exactly what we got.



This place is a bit off the beaten path - nearly at the northernmost end of Lake Ave - but easy to get to from Altadena, Pasadena, So. Pas and surrounding areas. The decor is relaxed patio-styled, with lots of greenery and an indoor fountain, and is very comfortable and relaxing.



There is a shared parking lot in front with about 4-5 spaces, but street parking is ample and close. Definitely a place I'd recommend and will return to again.
