August Inn is located on Anderson Island in southern Puget Sound. The small, 18 square mile island offers a quick getaway from hectic metropolitan areas. Just short 20 minute ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, then 10 minutes to the house. Situated on one acre that slopes to 125 feet of waterfront, the panoramic view reaches north to the Tacoma Narrows and south to the Nisqually River Delta, with Mt. Rainier directly across. Due southeast is the untouched Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.Although this private island has very little commercial development, it includes two restaurants and a general store.
