Teeth Cleaning
You should have your teeth examined and cleaned at least twice a year. Sometimes your dentist may recommend that you have more frequent cleanings depending on your periodontal health. Regular exams and cleanings visits are essential in preventing dental problems and maintaining healthy teeth and gums. At these visits your teeth are cleaned and checked for cavities, oral cancer screening, gum disease evaluation, examination of existing restorations and digital radiographs, removal of plaque and tartar and oral hygiene instruction.

Fillings
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are used to modify the shape and color of teeth. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are etched and then bonded to the enamel of the teeth. Tooth preparation is usually necessary to avoid over bulking of the tooth, but it is limited to the enamel and usually involves the front of the tooth.
Crowns
Replace a missing tooth or teeth include the fabrication of a bridge. To replace a missing tooth with a bridge, at least one tooth on either side of the space created by the missing tooth must be prepared for a crown. The false tooth is joined to the crowns, and the entire structure is cemented to the prepared teeth.
Bridges
Titanium implants are placed to preserve the existing the jawbone. They replace the root of the lost or extracted tooth and support the replacement restoration. Implants are used to replace one or more teeth without affecting neighboring teeth, replace a removable partial denture with a fixed bridge, secure an unstable partial denture and/or provide support to a complete denture. Replacing a missing tooth with a bridge requires grinding down the teeth on both sides of the space so that a bridge can be cemented on to them. A benefit of having an implant is the neighboring teeth do not need to be involved in treatment.

Root Canal Treatment
Is state of the art dental technology that provides patients with fully functioning teeth on dental implants in one single procedure that is accomplished all in one day. Crowns: Crowns cover or “cap’ a tooth to restore the normal function and appearance of the tooth. Crowns may be made as all metal, gold or porcelain fused to metal or all-ceramic (porcelain). Crowns are indicated for teeth with very large fillings, teeth that have had a root canal, fractured teeth and misshapen and/or discolored teeth.

Dentures
When there are multiple missing teeth, weak anchor teeth or no posterior teeth to anchor on, a removable partial denture is used to replace teeth. These restorations typically are made of a metal framework and a pink plastic base with teeth. Dentures: When a patient no longer has any natural teeth, complete dentures are the traditional method to restore function and appearance. Our in office laboratory and the doctor work together to provide you with comfortable and natural looking teeth. The use of dental implants to improve the stability and retention of dentures is becoming quite popular.

Dental Implants
Dr. John Davliakos received his doctorate in dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his postgraduate Prosthodontic and Oral Implantology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Davliakos is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland Graduate Prosthodontic Program. He lectures locally, nationally and internationally about implant and prosthetic dentistry.

Teeth Whitening
There are many products available for patients to whiten their teeth. These products include custom fabricated trays with a bleaching gel to take home and Glo whitening done in the dental office using a UV light that whitens the teeth a few shades in just one visit.
