They do illegal things. Make the renter pay for repairs they are not legally responsible for. They hold an anti-competitive monopoly on most of the houses inside of an entire region. They'll have you cleaning roofs, floors, do professional cleaning, and anything they can think of to get cheap or free maintenance out of their tenets. Their real customer's are the home owners, and they use tenants as tools to pay for rent and small to large maintenance tasks. They will require you to pay for $100,000 insurance just to move into a house. Many of these houses are in a dilapidated state. I've walked into houses with animals living in the roof, water heaters in the floor, sinking floors, and unkempt grounds. They will blame you for these conditions, so take total photographs of every angle of the property. They are obviously well politically connected, so they do seem almost beyond any local legal recourse to law. Beware.
