MRI
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows doctors to diagnose and sometimes treat joint injuries and disease through small incisions in the skin. It is often performed to confirm a diagnosis made after a physical examination and other imaging tests such as MRI, CT scan or X-rays. During an arthroscopic procedure, a thin fiberoptic light, magnifying lens and tiny television camera are inserted into the problem area, allowing the doctor to examine the joint in great detail.

Joint Replacement
Arthroplasty is the generic term for corrective surgery on a joint. Arthroplasty is derived from the Greek word â€œArthrosâ€ -meaning joint and the Greek word â€œPlastyâ€ -meaning to form, mold, or shape-literally translating into â€œshaping of the jointâ€ . In modern terms, this most commonly means a â€œtotal joint arthroplastyâ€ or â€œtotal joint replacementâ€ . Hip and knee total joint arthroplasties are still the most commonly performed but shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, and even ankles are available.
Hand Surgery
Hand surgery involves injuries and problems of the nerves, tendons, bones, and ligaments of the hand and wrist. Hand problems may be painful and limit such things as writing or typing, but most people donâ€™t walk on their hands.

Dr. Moss enjoys the variety of general orthopedic surgery but specializes in sports medicine procedures including knee and shoulder arthroscopic ligament reconstruction and repair. He also enjoys trauma surgery, and additionally knee and shoulder arthroplasty.

For some patients it is then possible to treat the problem using this approach or with a combination of arthroscopic and â€œopenâ€ surgery. Sports injuries are often repairable with arthroscopy. Tendon tears in the knee are frequently repaired in this way. Other potentially treatable injuries include torn cartilage or ligaments, inflamed joint lining, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff tears, and loose bone or cartilage.
