J. Frank Dobie Middle School, established in 1973, is a part of the Austin Independent School District. Located in Austin, Texas, the school provides after-school classes and programs to students in grades six through eight. Its core curriculum includes math, science, social studies, language arts and English. J. Frank Dobie Middle School also offers classes in reading, physical education, Spanish, band, life skills and art. The school s athletics department supports various sports activities, such as football, soccer, volleyball and basketball. It organizes orchestra concerts, dance competitions, science fairs and parent-teacher meetings. J. Frank Dobie Middle School additionally offers a college preparatory program called Advancement Via Individual Determination.
