The lantern atop our mailbox pillar had not been working for months. Had digging to lift and level the pillar damaged the neutral wire? We interviewed multiple contractors; all wanted to dig and fix or replace damaged underground wiring. The job might be small, but it was more likely to involve a 60-foot trench and lawn destruction. Scary words like "jack" and "torpedo" were bandied about.



After checking our photocell and bulb, Scott spied an outlet under a live oak, noted that the wiring had been damaged by exposure to the elements, repaired the wiring, which was connected to the lantern, and lit up our lives. We had an *above-ground* problem! He recognized and shared it.
