Michigan Shooting Center

My favorite place to shoot shotguns, rifles and pistols. Friendly staff, safe environment, it doesn't get any better! Have been to both of their locations and would highly recommend both to others.

The rifle/pistol range is ok if you just want to shoot at simple bulls-eye targets. The range officers are a**holes who have some power complex who seem to live for yelling at you for any reason. No warning, just complete a$$holeness! Also, the rules make it really ridicules, only six shots max, 3 seconds between rounds, don't cross the yellow line when range is cold etc. Hell, one guy even got on me for picking up spent brass that didn't come from my gun! If you shoot like once a year to sight in your rifle, its fine. But if you are an avid shooter who enjoys shooting for sport and hobby, I would suggest joining a private club!

The island lk shooting range is a great place to take friends and family for some fun recreational shooting... with that being said, not a good place to go if you're serious about shooting. It is owned by the notorious DNR, and with that comes with alot unescessary rules. 6 rounds in a clip max, three secs between shots (although there seems to be a discrepency between this rule as i have waited longer than three secs and have been jumped on!), no human or animal shaped targets, and any other lovely rule that limits your overall shooting experiance.



Lets get one thing straight, i am only speaking ill of their rifle/handgun shooting range.... they actually have a very nice clay pidgeon shooting range, with all of the variants you could possibly dream of... the employees in the main building at the front desk are really nice and helpfull along with all of the staff at the clay pidgeon side of the business.



The range officers are power-tripping dbags who jump at the oppurtunity to yell and embarass you for either the slightest mistake (such as loading 7 rounds instead of six), or imaginary rules thought up by the RO's themselves.my favorite made up rule, is the one where you cant have the clip in your gun, even if it keeps the breach open that way... i have a military-issue carbine that the action can only be kept open with the clip in.... one RO had no problem with it, but the other dbag shoved a dirty spent cartrige beteen the action and the gun.. (wow good job private pyle)..... with options at a premium, i am forced to come here for my nearby legitimate shooting.... I just wish i had a license to beat people sensless, because i would beat up the RO with gusto if given the chance....
