Overall

I contracted with Kruse Home Improvement to replace the lower two feet of sheet rock in my home because it had been flooded from a burst pipe. The lower two feet of sheetrock and insulation had already been removed by ServPro. I had no idea that the owner was not going to do this job himself and another person would be sent. However, I had assumed from reading reviews this worker would do quality work. I was happy to see the restoration work start and the room coming together, that is until I took a good look at the quality of this simple dry wall job, it was just horrible! The worker who did the job informed me he was still "learning". I couldn't believe my eyes when I inspected the job, the mud had formed a "chair rail" all around the room and the painter that was sent painted right over it (without priming)it looked terrible, white spots showing through where the sheetrock was mudded. I called the owner, Shawn Kruse who came over and inspected the job, he did repair the work himself by putting a skim coat of mud and sanding it. The painter was sent again to repaint, another sloppy job, paint lines everywhere, paint did not even match. Here I was, left with this mess...all electrical outlets hanging out of the wall, sheetrock mud all over the cement floor and a horrible paint job. I had to take things in my own hands as the carpet was being installed the next day, so I repainted the entire large room myself, reinstalled all the electrical outlets, the sheet rock cuts did not match some of the outlets so it was difficult (Shawn did send another worker over to fix that). I then had to scrape the sheetrock mud off the floor so I could clean and spray an antimicrobial product before the carpet could be installed. After my paint job dried, I could still see where the sheet rock was joined and mudded but I just couldn't delay this job any longer as the carpet was coming. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the one door that had to be replaced, it was full of gouges and ripples and was painted right over all those defects, I was told the door was rained on and there was nothing I could do about it. Well the door started to warp and the edges peeled apart, the door that I was told was solid wood turned out to be a cheap hollow door. After contacting the owner and sending him pictures of the door he agreed to replace it with a fiberglass door. Another problem I had was in my laundry room, the wall that was sheet rocked had the mud literally coming out from the wall, Shawn refused to re-sheetrock but sent someone to repair the damage, it took four skim coats of mud and a lot of sanding to make that wall look flat. This job that started in April 10, 2014 finally finished on July 7, 2014. The worker that Shawn Kruse sent to do this job,in my opinion, was obviously not qualified. Shawn Kruse did make the corrections and did respond to my many e-mails regarding the poor workmanship, he became frustrated hearing from me indicating I was being unreasonable. It is my home and I wanted it to look as good as it did before the flood, I don't think that is unreasonable. I have pictures I would love to post showing all of the poor workmanship I have spoken of in this review. I had decided to work with Shawn Kruse and allow him to fix all of the problems that arose from the worker he sent to do this job instead of applying to the Home Improvement Guaranty Fund because he seemed willing to make things right. But on my end, it was nothing but aggravation which I did not need recovering from a flood. If you choose to hire Kruse Home Improvement MAKE SURE you know exactly WHO will be doing the job you contract with him for. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Kruse Home Improvement.
