Overall
Wonderful River

This river is gorgeous. Great for overnight trips. The owners are very helpful. I once drove there and left my keys in the car. They helped me pry open my windows, spending 15 minutes, and I was able to open the car. They are a young couple, 2nd generation owners. There are souvenirs available. The changing room is quaint and rustic. You need to get there before 11 am if you want to go on trip number 3, which is the most beautiful of the day trips. Trip number 2 is not my favorite, as you pass by an interstate and hear it for awhile; but this trip can be started as late as 2 pm, check the details. It is a long drive from New Orleans, but worth the trip. Mapquest says 2 hours, but I'd say 3 hours. Nothing ugly about this river. It is a favorite river for overnight on the beach. The DeSoto trail is not fixed yet, but they are working on ot, and it will take a while. But you can still find it if you want to do exploring, and go hike for awhile, out of your kayak. I recommend taking 4 stops to wade in the water, and a stop to eat. You can almost lay back in your kayak and close your eyes as you drift forward; it is an easy river, at trip 3. Trip 1 was not my favorite, but I would go it again. I am looking forward to doing the 10 mile trip 4, and an overnight trip in the future. They do not offer innertubes. Besides this, there is Wolf River which is beautiful, if you can get to it. And there is Wayne's World, in Enon Louisiana, which also offers innertubes. It's beautiful also, but too many people on the weekends. I would prefer more flexibility in scheduling with Black Creek. I would like trip 3 to be available later in the day, say, 12, 1, 2pm. It is 32$ for a canoe or a kayak; or 50 for 2 kayaks. For trip 4, a 15 mile trip, it is 55 for a canoe, and 45 for a kayak; it could be done overnight. Trip 1 which is 13 miles is 40 for canoe or kayak. Trip 6 goes through "a wild and scenic stream" portion; it is 25 miles (2 nights). Trip 5 is 20 miles- overnight.
