Established in 1981, the Burnsville Fire Department offers firefighting and emergency medical services. It operates a prevention division that provides construction plan review, inspection, code enforcement and fire investigation services. The department maintains a staff of firefighters, paramedics and fire motor operators. It features fire engines, advanced life support ambulances and aerial trucks. The Burnsville Fire Department also maintains a technical rescue team that offers confined space, trench, and water and ice rescue services. It conducts training sessions and public education programs. The department is operated by the city of Burnsville, Minn., which also operates police, forestry, engineering and recreation departments.
