Next time Daniel Boone is in town with his musket I’ll direct him to the Burnsville gun range. Staff is rude and disrespectful and has primitive views of modern rifles. After arriving with magazines pre loaded he stuck his magnet onto the magazine and when it stuck after I told him I had no steel ammunition he aggressively starts removing rounds from the magazine. Tried to stop him and tell him that it was sticking the the spring but he was having none of it. after removing all 30 and finding no steel cased ammunition he let me enter the range. Bottom line will never be back and will gladly spend my time and money elsewhere.

Roger and Sue go above and beyond for their customers. The prices are a bargain and you can buy a shot card and save even more.

Problem with your handgun? Ask Roger for help when your gun is giving you fits and he'll give it a go.

He fixed my Glock saving me at least $200.00 dollars today and wouldn't even let me buy him lunch.

They do gun transfers there if you buy a gun online for a nominal charge. If you need to sight in your hunting rifle they can accommodate all the big boomers.

Folks that's service that you don't often see these days. Drop in and shoot a few boxes of shells, who knows you may become a regular.

I hope the sensitive prima donnas who find the staff rude because they have high standards of safety stay away. The people who work there are serious about safety and good practices. They don't suffer fools lightly, and can get sharp with people who don't follow the rules. Otherwise they are very professional and respectful. I like the fact that they don't double as salesmen selling other customers guns when they should be acting as ringmasters. These are serious people doing serious work. I like that.

The range itself is the best in t he area. Good touches abound in the bays...accurate range system to put targets where you want them, robust clamps for the targets, free cardboard mounts, ample table space.

I'm a combat vet wh shoots with other vets like me. We don't equate "military friendly" with a few cents off the rates. The people are all ex-military or ex- law enforcement, and they show me respect by giving me treatment i earn and value I desire.

Btw, their CC classes are the best I've seen

"NOT Military Friendly", Retired from the Military and moved back to MN looking for a good gun range. The elderly gentleman at the counter was very rude, when I ask if they had any Military discounts he told me if they gave military discounts hey wouldn't make any money, will never go back, the old man should find a non costumer service job.

Took my first trip to BPR on a Sunday afternoon (11/16). The place doesn't lend much to the eye, but it's a range - I don't need it to look fancy. I had checked out their site ahead of time and made certain that I was abiding by all of their rules. They restrict certain types of ammunition as a recent fire which burned the range to the ground was caused by sparking ammunition down range. If you are using common ammunition (Winchester, Remington etc.) they won't use the magnet test as they know those brands are ok. They provide free eye and ear protection for you to use.

I shot 9mm, .22, and .380 while I was there.

Very rule-centric; but considering I have been at Bill's and had barrels of weapons pointed at me (loaded or unloaded, doesn't matter, keep the barrel down range) - I'm completely ok with the list of rules. Targets work great, keypads are a bit touchy, but they tell you about that ahead of time. The staff is VERY attentive to behavior on the range, which makes me feel very safe as far as other shooter's handling of weapons is concerned.

I very much enjoyed my time there, and considering I spent over three hours on the range and it only cost me $15 plus the cost of the targets, I'll absolutely be back again.

Lack of people skills

Customer service and friendly/helpful attitudes are not present at this facility. Staff/owners are short, rude, condescending and in general don't act like they want your business. I have been there numerous times and used them as an FFL with the same experience each time. When I went to pick up my firearm they wouldn't even let me inspect it before accepting the transfer. I had to ask multiple times before they showed it to me. Their knowledge of modern sporting rifles is non existent. They told me pistol length rifles cannot be shot there because they have too much rise? and that they are designed to be shot from the hip... I don't know anyone that shoots their AR pistol from their hip. Their back stop can clearly handle .223 so there shouldn't be any issues. They also stated you cannot shoot a regular AR standing, only resting on a bench while seated!? I will not be going back unless there is a match to attend. My regular range sessions will be conducted somewhere that wants my business.

Very rude people work here. They have no tolerance for novices either. They contantly complain about people shooting the ceiling even if you dont. Well put something on the ceiling then!

On weekends the place is gets very cramped, the few times Ive been there several instructors were using the lanes to conduct classes. You might want to call ahead to see how busy they are.

They have plenty of shooting supplies on hand, and some of the more common ammo. Dont bring steel ammo, like surplus 7.62. They dont allow steel. Once in the lanes, you need to observe the rules at all times. I can respect that, but the tone with which they enforce it sucks. I went there with some friends from out of town and the whole attitude thing was a buzz kill to say the least. If you want to be treated like your a boot camp grunt this is the place to go.

I dont expect them to babysit noobs but if you open your doors to the public, treat them like you want the buisiness.

I wont go here again unless its raining or too cold for outdoor shooting.

The elderly manager at the fro...

The elderly manager at the front is extremely rude to new and returning costumers. I've never felt welcome there and the range isn't even that good.

I've been to this range 3 times in the last year. The first time I was there, I was treated very rudely by the manager (guy) behind the counter. I figured that you had to have somewhat of a negative attitude managing a gun range, I'm sure a lot of stupid people show up to them. So I let it slide. The next time I was there I asked for 2 lanes to accommodate 5 friends and myself. He said that it absolutely wouldn't work. I pointed to two open lanes through the glass behind him, he told me they were "reserved". I was pretty upset by his rude attitude, when the woman behind the counter told him that they were in fact open. With a huff, he let us in. After our pistol range time was over I returned to the counter to ask him if we could use two lanes in the rifle bay. I had with me a Century Arms AK-74, something he assured me would not be acceptable ("None of that Russian crap is allowed"). I told him it was ballistic tipped and wouldn't be a problem. He snatched my box of ammo and tried his hardest to get the bullets to stick to his magnet. No luck for him, they weren't steel tipped like I had said. After he handed my ammunition back, he smugly told me the entire rifle bay was reserved for the day (Don't know why he didn't tell me that before he checked my ammo...)

Just today I was at the range again, as I entered the manager was sending a costumer into pistol lane 2. I quickly asked if he could change the lane to lane 5 so that my friends and I could get the side by side lanes 1&2. The costumer said that he wouldn't have a problem with it, but the manager was irate. Of course it wouldn't work! I wanted so badly to leave and head to the very well-serviced Gander Mtn. range, but my friend's didn't have much time before they had to leave. So I requested 2 lanes in the rifle bay. He was upset that I still wanted to shoot, so he made me check all my ammo against his magnet again. Once in the rifle bay, we set up and started shooting. About a half hour later he stormed in and yelled at us for shooting in the wrong lane. I apologized because it *was* my mistake for using the wrong lane (I couldn't remember if our second lane was 13 or 15). His explanation was what was so ridiculous: he said it was reserved. In an hour and a half's time no one showed up to use it..... (A lot of people must reserve lanes there and then never show up?)

Some reviewers have said that he's nicer to those who come frequently, but I've been there 3 times in six months and always rented more then one lane. I've been an avid shooter since I was very young, and my brother, who always comes with, shoots competitively. Most of my group of friends are Honor students from the local Christian college. We couldn't be a safer or friendlier group.

The Range itself: It's ok. It's a little old, but the electronics work well on the target holders. The free tape they provide really comes in handy. That being said, the range is pretty much on or below par with Bill's Gun Shop and Gander Mtn.

I'd sum things up with: Don't waste your time with the attitude the manager gives, for a very average range. Go to Gander Mtn. or Bill's Gun Shop!
