Medical Weight Loss
Some people, who were recently infected with HCV, may develop symptoms of fatigue, abdominal pain, poor appetite, or jaundice. Once a person starts to develop cirrhosis, more symptoms may develop including muscle weakness, weight loss, abdominal swelling, vomiting blood, blood in the stool and confusion.
Primary Care
You should take your blood pressure medication, heart medication, and medication for seizures and inhalers. Do not take blood thinners. All other medications should be held until after the procedure. If you are diabetic please call your primary care doctor for adjustments in your insulin dosage.
Colonoscopy
Bowel preparation for colonoscopy is performed the evening before the procedure. This allows for total cleansing of the colon and clear visibility during the colonoscopy procedure. A clear bowel preparation ensures an accurate examination and best results. Each patient will be given specific instructions regarding a bowel preparation prescribed by his or her gastroenterologist. The lowest-volume, safest, and most effective preparation solutions will be utilized, based on your medical history.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disturbance of the colonic function. It is usually characterized by abdominal discomfort, bloating and abnormal bowel movements. While it is not necessary to have abnormal bowel movements, IBS is usually characterized by either diarrhea, constipation or diarrhea alternating with constipation. Abdominal discomfort and bloating is often relieved by a bowel movement.

Bowel incontinence is a frequent and debilitating condition that may result from many different causes. It is defined as the uncontrolled passage of feces or gas over at least 1 monthâ€™s duration, in an individual of at least 4 years of age, who previously had bowel control.

Colon cancer usually begins as a colon polyp. Colon polyps are small growths on the inner lining of the colon. Some polyps (adenoma) have a greater risk for growing into cancer if not removed from the colon lining.

Ultrasound
Radial endoscopic ultrasound is a diagnostic technique that allows for detailed internal ultrasound evaluation of digestive structures. The esophagus, stomach, pancreas, and biliary system are evaluated by combining endoscopy and ultrasound. This is a sedated endoscopic procedure similar to upper endoscopy that is performed in the hospital outpatient setting.
MRI
There is no one test to diagnose Crohnâ€™s disease. A gastroenterologist will likely use a combination of tests to help confirm a diagnosis of Crohnâ€™s disease. Blood tests for anemia or infection and fecal occult blood test may be used. A colonoscopy, CT scan, MRI, capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy can also assist in the diagnosis of Crohnâ€™s disease.
Computed Tomography

Ulcer
The expert gastroenterologists at PA GI are trained to perform therapeutic endoscopy. Therapeutic interventions include: polyp removal, ulcer treatment, control of bleeding, stricture dilation, feeding tube placement, and biliary endoscopy. Most therapeutic interventions are completed at the time of your procedure and do not require additional procedures.
