I took my dog to Striegel Animal Hospital just yesterday for a scab that has developed over the past couple weeks on her belly/chest. I tried to figure out what it could be, but had no luck so I decided to just take her to a vet. I looked up places online and for some reason was drawn to this place. I went to their webpage and found that I could request an appointment right there at 9 pm (this was very beneficial to me since I often have trouble finding time to call businesses during the day when they're open due to my busy schedule). The very next morning they got back to me to schedule the appointment! As a college student, I was worried that it might get expensive really quickly (since my dog didn't seem to have any other symptoms I figured they would want to do a bunch of tests). I asked if they could give me a price estimate and when I got there the nurse showed me a print up of all the tests that the doctor might have wanted to do (she was also very friendly with my dog). It totaled to over $160 so I quickly became concerned, but I was glad that they were being up front with me and I was surprised that the exam plus 3 tests wouldn't be more expensive. After the nurse left, the doctor came in a very short time later and greeted both of us with enthusiasm! After examining my dog she concluded that the scab is actually something that is common in young dogs and that nothing else needs to be done! She suggested that I keep an eye on it to make sure that it goes away in a few weeks, and she offered to clean it up for us for free (I declined since I didn't think it was necessary and my dog is very high energy and it would have been difficult to hold her still). The doctor played with her for a short time, gave her a treat, complimented her, and then sent us on our way. It was clear that the doctor enjoys her job and working with animals. When the appointment was over and I had to pay my balance, I was charged the minimum exam fee so I was happy to pay knowing that it was well worth it. Plus from the time we walked in to the time we left we were there for no more than 15 minutes! If my dog has any more health problems (hopefully not) we will definitely be returning to Striegel Animal Hospital!
