Dr. Wroblewski specializes in medical retina and oncology, uveitis, surgical retina, and inherited retinal diseases. He has been board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology since May 1994. Dr. Wroblewski started his career training at Loyola College of Baltimore where he graduated with a B.S. in 1981. He went on to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he completed his M.D. in 1986 followed by an internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. From there he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern-Parkland Memorial Hospital. Wanting to expand his horizons, Dr. Wroblewski completed his fellowship in surgical retina/ medical retina at the University of London - Moorfields Eye Hospital. Afterwards, he completed a second fellowship in surgical retina/ medical retina at Foundation for Retina Research in New Orleans.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in the United States in patients 20 to 74 years of age. The two forms of diabetic retinopathy result when the abnormal blood vessels of the diabetic patient begin to leak or collapse. Non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy occurs when blood vessels leak and fluid accumulates in the retina. When the leakage is severe ("clinically significant macular edema"), laser surgery combined with injections of anti-inflammatory medications into the eye can be used to reduce or eliminate the associated retinal swelling. Vision should stabilize with treatment, and in many cases can improve vision as well.

Cumberland Valley Retina Consultants is committed to providing you with state-of-the-art vitreoretinal eye care. We use the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies available including laser, ultrasound and ophthalmic imaging. Most treatments are performed here at our office, including laser surgery and intra-ocular injections. Some surgical procedures are performed in the hospital. Our surgeons have privileges at many of the region’s finest hospitals for patients who require hospitalization.
Radiology
Jay Berdia, M.D. graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, with a focus in Neuroscience, along with minors in Psychology and Biomedical Physics. During his undergraduate years he studied the imaging of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. Dr. Berdia earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center where he conducted research on the biomechanics of intertrochanteric hip fractures. He then completed his internship at Maimonides Medical Center, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center where he served as chief resident. Prior to joining Cumberland Valley Retina Consultants, he pursued a fellowship in medical retina at Duke University, one of the top eye centers in the country.
