We had SO much fun picking apples this weekend! Of course, it's still early so they only had a few varieties ready (not that it mattered to us, we just wanted to run around and pick some apples. and maybe throw some at each other. whatever.).

the staff was very friendly and accommodating (we showed up shortly before they stop letting people in to pick, but they promised not to lock us in thank goodness!) I got about 6 lbs of apples for $8, and they had apple butter (as well as pumpkin, YUM) for about $3 for 8oz jar. We will DEFINITELY be going back for more apples and pumpkin picking!

Nice, quiet orchard to just. go. apple. picking. (And pumpkin picking too, actually.)

I always go on a weekday, it's always been really quiet and nice. No fee to enter, I didn't realize there was one on the weekends (or cider doughnuts for that matter). Lots of kinds of apples, big trees, little trees, stuff for kids to reach and stuff to stretch and climb a bit for. There are signs in some rows labeling apple varieties if you are like me and forget to look at the day's map carefully enough, and the trees are painted different colors (just a ring around them, not the whole tree of course) to help identify them as well.

They've always been really nice and really helpful. Just the kind of place we wanted.

Undoubtedly, the best apple & fruit picking place around. Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a staff member on a cart who picked an apple for us to try and highly recommended it for baking. Great signs which helped determine what type of apples. What I liked most was that it didn't have that zoo/carnival feel and smell to it like some of the other orchards that cram in petting zoos and pony rides. Give the family & kids the real apple/fruit picking experience without the extra noise. Pumpkin patch is a real pumpkin patch-- RIGHT OFF THE VINE, not like the ones that just lay cut pumpkins out on a field. Warm, delicious cider donuts and great apple cider - hot or cold. Apple prices were better than my local grocery store. This was a wonderful experience.. Will make this an annual trip.

My wife and I have gone apple picking here twice so far. Their apple varieties are excellent, and was still plentiful even after the recent long Columbus Day weekend. We actually stopped by the nearby Alstede farm in the same town, and they had ran out of apples... compared to Alstede, Riamede is also much more laid back, and in my opinion great for a quieter time picking apples and pumpkins with the kids. they also have a haywagon ride, that I plan on trying out when my daughter is a little older.

So go to Alstede if you want the corn maze and more commercialized feel... Go to Riamede for a more authentic experience.
