Doug's Tree Service

On 2/25/2017, 3:20 PM due to high winds a tree from neighboring property fell on our home. Tree was over 100 ' tall and very heavy, it was blocking 2 of the 3 outside doorways. After calling 911 we called Doug's Tree Service, 1145 Ridge Ave Columbia, Pa. With a very quick response Doug was on site to evaluate our situation and determined a crane was needed to assist with tree removable from our home. Doug handled everything for us, on Sunday, 2/26/2017, 7:45 Doug's tree trimmers, crane operator and crane were on site at our home. Theywere extremely knowledgeable and professional. Our situation was serious also scary for us, the on site workers put us at ease with their approach and results to our problem. We would like to give a shout out to Mike C. the person doing the tree cutting and Josh on the Doug team, also the crane operator. At the end of the day were knew we were in good hands.
Our sincere thanks Mike C. Josh and crane operator for a job well done. It is appreciated.

Doug and I spoke when he was meeting with my neighbor giving him an estimate. He gave me an estimate to do my work and I told him to schedule my work for the same time he scheduled my neighbor's work. This was important because one lane of a city street would have to be closed in order to complete the work on both of our properties. He said okay and never told me that any additional steps were needed. My neighbor informed me that the work was scheduled for 11/18 on 11/16.

When the work crew arrived on 11/18, the workers told me that my work was not on the schedule. I called the office, after the person on the phone checked with Doug, was told that if I sent in a signed contract the work on my property would be completed on 11/18. I did and was told that my work would be done on 11/18. I confirmed that the on-site workers were aware of this after speaking with the office.

When the crew completed my neighbor's job, they arrived at my door to inform me that my work would not be completed on 11/18 and it would have to be rescheduled. The on-site crew was very apologetic and informed me that they didn't have time and had to go to another job.

I called the office and received a call back 2 hours later only to be told that there was nothing they could do until they talked to Doug. Doug then called and told me that they didn't have time to complete my job and since they didn't have a signed contract he had no way of knowing that I would pay him. I pointed out that he had a signed contract and that it was very clear that the work was to be scheduled in conjunction with my neighbor's work. His response was "Don't go there or I'll hang up on you." That was end of the conversation.

Doug was completely unprofessional in his interaction with me. I also learned that his workers were in danger while working next door because he failed to have the power cut to the power lines that run through the trees all along our street.
