The Department of Public Utilities is a part of the city government of Columbus in Ohio. The department operates a power and water division that offers meter reading services and is responsible for the maintenance of electric distribution systems, plants and related infrastructures. Its sewerage and drainage section provides wastewater collection and treatment solutions and administers the capital improvement program to upgrade infrastructures and solve flooding issues. The department also offers wastewater discharge permit application, online bill payment, and construction and design specification services for residences and businesses. The Department of Public Utilities has undertaken the Big Walnut Rickenbacker Interceptor project.
