The owners wanted to keep the original floor plan as much as possible. They did not want to move walls as the room was more than large enough to accommodate their needs. American suggested custom cabinetry from Foxtail Millworks who designed and built the custom vanities. The owner and Foxtail worked together to design vanity cabinets that gave the look of custom furniture while also accommodating the storage needs of the owner. Kohler plumbing fixtures were selected for the faucets and tub. The shower was designed by American and the tile design the materials were selected by the owner as was the lighting. The bathroom floor and shower walls are all travertine selected and purchased from Capital Tile and Marble. American installed its waterproof BathPerfect system to all tile surfaces. In addition electric floor heating from NuHeat was installed. When removing the shower window American discovered that the wall and insulation below the window had been exposed to water for some time and needed to be completely rebuilt. While creating a slight delay, the work clearly had to be done (see photos).
Bathroom Remodeling
The owners now have a beautiful master bathroom that reflects the other features and look of the rest of the house. The shower has been enlarged and made more convenient with the addition of a hand held shower unit. The bathtub is not only more decorative but more user friendly as well. The new vanities provide not only a better look to the room but also much better storage. In fact, the owners most difficult task is to determine how and if they want to share the room with their teenage daughters. The owners of this Towson bathroom renovation enjoy their new space every day.
Flooring
One room that was never completed to their satisfaction was the master bathroom. This Towson bathroom renovation included a new shower, tub, vanities, lighting, flooring and accessories. The shower was not appropriate, the tub was not at all what they wanted, the vanities were not user friendly and the lighting was not adequate for the size of the room. The owners wanted to update entire space, including changing out the shower window which turned out to be a fortuitous decision. With the exposure on two sides of the house, the room often was colder than the owners would like.
For residential work we primarily do home additions, master suites, kitchens, bathrooms and basements. We also create in-law suites and “aging in place” renovations. Most of the projects are extensive and are referred to us by past customers, architects and designers.

Driveways
With the help of the co-owners of American Contracting and the architecture firm of Arch Tech Design, LLC a garage plan was created that not only fit the car but also eliminated the drainage issue that had plagued the owners for years. Meticulous measurements were taken of the car (see the before pictures) to insure the owners could easily open both car doors comfortably when in the garage. Careful planning for the driveway and security fence was also required.
