This surgery is needed when jaw irregularities cannot be corrected with traditional orthodontic devices. With surgical orthodontics, we can improve the appearance of the face and the patient’s ability to chew, speak, and breathe properly.

Orthodontics
For many decades, orthodontics focused on correcting problems once the jaw was finished developing. The current approach divides orthodontic treatment into two phases; the first phase, called interceptive orthodontics, seeks to influence the teeth and jaw growth in younger patients as they grow, a process that is both easier and more effective than waiting for issues to occur and then correcting them.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign Teen is similar to the Invisalign system for adults, with a few key differences that make it particularly suited for younger patients. With Invisalign Teen, you’ll get up to six replacement aligners free of charge and aligners are capable of providing extra space to accommodate new erupting teeth. Best of all, Invisalign Teen features a compliance indicator so parents can monitor treatment and make sure their teens are wearing their aligners as instructed.

Having braces should not cause any major changes in your day-to-day activities. You can still dine out, sing, play a musical instrument, or have pictures taken. If you play a wind instrument, several companies make mouth guards and lip protectors, although you may not need them. For certain sports it is a good idea to wear a mouth guard.
