Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
If youâ€™re a person whose job or hobby requires repetitive gripping, grasping and data entry with symptoms of pain and numbness you maybe suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome due to pinching of the median nerve. More rarely the ulnar nerve can be pinched due to Guyonâ€™s canal syndrome. Inflammation of tendons around the wrist are due to tenosynovitis which can be treated conservatively.

MRI
A more serious type of shoulder problem involves damage to the rotator cuff which could be worn, partially or completely torn. This frequently involves some type of injury to the shoulder due to a fall or heavy lifting. Some cases can be treated conservatively but many require surgical intervention arthroscopically to repair the damage. Most often an MRI scan will be required. Injuries associated as a result of extreme movement can cause damage to the labrum.

Sciatica
Most of the population will be bothered with lower back discomfort sometime in their lifetime. Most often this is due to a minor sprain of the joints in the back or strain of the muscles. Conservative treatment usually resolves these problems in 4-6 weeks. More serious back pain that lingers on all causes radiating pain into her legs maybe due to injuries to the discs in the lower back. When a disk is severely displaced we call it a herniated disc and if it is pressing on a nerve then it causes pain in the leg called sciatica. Epidural injections frequently will help decrease the leg and some back pain but occasionally surgical intervention in the form of minimally invasive spinal surgery is necessary to resolve the problem.

Hip Replacement
Frequently as a result of playing sports when we are younger or having an accident we can create damage to our hip joints. Limping is frequently a result of damage in the hip joint. The most common source of pain is inflammation of bursal sacs around the hip joint. Â More advanced damage can be related to tears of the labrum in the hip joint as well as arthritis. Some of the problems can be treated in the office and others require arthroscopic surgery or more extensive hip surgery such as a hip replacement. These days hip replacement through the anterior minimally invasive approach provides less recovery problems.
Knee Replacement
Dr. Gross has been my workers compensation Dr. for some 3 years now. He is wonderfully easy to talk to. He did an amazing job on my left knee replacement. He dose not push drugs and really cares about his patients.

With any type of shoulder problem the pain frequently restricts the range of motion. Unfortunately, if we donâ€™t place our shoulders through a full range of motion frequently they will stiffen up and some people develop whatâ€™s called â€œa frozen shoulderâ€ .
Tennis Elbow
One of the most common problems orthopedic surgeons see on a daily basis is pain over the outside of the elbow due to lateral epicondylitis or â€œtennis elbowâ€ . Pain on the inside of the elbow can be due to medial epicondylitis or â€œgolfers elbowâ€ . Less common problems in the elbow are due to pinching of the ulnar nerve in the cubital tunnel or the radial nerve in the radial tunnel.

Plantar Fasciitis
Most ankle pain occurs following a minor twisting injury while walking on uneven ground. Advanced injuries May cause a fracture in the ankle requiring a reduction of the fracture and or surgery. Additional sources of ankle pain relate to inflammation of the tendons or rupture of the tendons around the ankle. The most common cause of pain in our feet can be due to plantar fasciitis (heal pain syndrome) or tendon inflammation. In addition deformity of our toes can be associated with arthritis that can require shoe modification including orthotics or cortisone injections as well as possible surgery.
