Decatur City Police Department goals are to maintain an atmosphere of security from unlawful behavior in the community, limit personal injury and property loss caused by unlawful behavior to the lowest possible levels and to provide the most effective emergency communications possible for citizens and visitors of Decatur, Ga. The department s units include the uniform patrol, animal control, investigations and traffic department. Decatur City Police Department is charged with investigating and solving all crimes against persons and property. The department investigations units include white-collar crimes, juvenile crimes, identity theft, homicide and crimes against property and persons. The uniform patrol division is responsible for the daily protection of the residents and visitors of the city.
