Overall

I love Comic World. It's true that the guy behind the counter isn't the most chipper fellow, but he's a decent enough guy and the place is busy, which means it's stressful. He has never been rude to me, though I can see how some people might take "stressed out and very busy" as being rude.

The prices aren't bad for most things. The prices of cheap rare Magic cards can be a little high. They apparently charge $1 for cheap rares, some of which sell for much less. One I purchased recently I could buy online for 25 cents each. As I said, though, he's a decent enough fellow and is willing to work with you on prices. He has always thrown in extras for me AND given me a break on the price when I've picked up a bunch of singles, and that's without me even asking. Give him time when it's busy, be willing to wait, don't take it personally when he doesn't smile and take the time to chit chat and you'll get along with him great. He's not a real "people person". Some people just aren't. If you're expecting to be treated as if your his favorite and only customer, that's not likely to happen. If you're patient and understanding he'll take good care of you.

Good products tainted by a crabby owner

I've been regularly visiting Comic World and Games for over two years now for trading card game tournaments. The tournaments are always a great time, but I've noticed the owner (who's name is Josh I believe) is often openly rude and critical towards me and my friends. I love the place, and spend hundreds of dollars there every year, but the owner is a jerk. It isn't just me either, my entire group of friends have noticed it. It's a great place, and they carry lots of great merchandise. If only the owner was a more pleasant and sociable guy.
I spent thousands a year at comic world in dubuque iowa despite the owner being a jerk. To get a fcbd thor u had to be new or pay 20 dollars for it
Only $20? I had $44 worth of Trades and the last Avengers CTD fig, asked for more, then asked for FCBD Thor. He still told me no then asked if I still play and collect. I told him yes. He asked why I don't get them from Comic World anymore... I just shrugged said I get a better deal where I play.

He also stated that he was saving his Figs for his players, saying he had 6-7. I asked when they run tourneys, his reply "Oh well we really don't, they usually just come in and play." Oh so you are saving all 25 FCBD Thor figs for 6-7 guys that MAY show up? Oh I also had my step son and son with me, also looking forward to getting figures.

He then has the balls to tell me to check the Facebook page to see if they start running tournaments. Yeah right, good luck with that, I have giving him plenty of opportunities as a business owner to show me that driving the 45 min to his shop is worth it. He has failed every time. Before Brave and the Bold was released I made flyers and volunteered to be the judge (giving references) for him on whatever day and time would be best for him. I started a "pull box" for my comics and ordered clix (2 cases of BatB & WoS) through him. Every time I went back I asked about when he wanted me to come in and demo, or when he wanted to start holding tournies, he always shot me down and never did put up the flyers. Eventually I gave up, my schedule changed, the economy hit me hard and I found a different venue. I still made it in when I could to get my pull box, and I told him why I was having a hard time getting in there.

Then last year during FCBD I went in with my family, and he starts yelling at me how I left him high and dry, by ordering two cases of Cap and never picking them up. Mind you the store was pretty full with other FCBD patrons and Magic players, not to mentions my kids and wife. That was just not cool in my opinion. I figured I would give him one more chance this year, but with the shenanigans, I will NEVER go back there.
