Building Products of Iowa, a subsidiary of Building Products, is a wholesale distributor of building materials to retail lumberyards. The company, founded in 1984, operates a more than 180,000-square-foot warehouse in Waterloo, Iowa. Building Products of Iowa employs more than 90 full-time personnel and operates more than 10 semitractors. The company distributes products from more than 90 manufacturers to over 400 dealers. In addition, the company conducts various educational programs, such as top gun, stocking and display dealers and cooperative advertising. It also organizes manufacturer plant tours and products training meetings. Its parent company, Building Products, also operates other subsidiaries, including Building Products of South Dakota and Building Products Forest Products Division. It is headquartered in Watertown, S.D.
