As a member of the military, it was really helpful to me that Galax accepts Tricare. I needed financial help and the people at Galax helped me through the insurance process. I can’t thank them enough for that and for helping me deal with my addiction and start over my life.
Galax saved my life. The path I was on and the amount of drugs I was taking were killing me. I was so angry at my family at first for making me go to treatment and I was not very cooperative in the beginning. The staff would not let me quit on myself and got me to really see my life and what my problems were. It has been a difficult road but I wouldn’t change a thing.
My last treatment center doesn’t hold a candle to this place. I have felt safe and cared for ever since I got here. My concerns have been taken seriously and action is always taken to meet my needs.
The family program at Galax was so important to me in my recovery. It helped my family understand my addiction, our communication problems and what we need to do differently going forward. Without the support, involvement and understanding of my family, I would not be doing so well today. I recommend this program highly.

If you are looking for a beach trip go to the beach. This is rehab. It hurts. It's hard. These people are blessings that help you while you hurt and detox from the hell you have put your body through. The building could be better. The yard nicer. But you can not ask for better people.

This place is the worst in the world. I almost died here was rushed to the emergency. Kept me on methadone and then cut me off even thiough I paid cash to go here and then kicked me out on the streets in 20deg weather I had to stay outside for 6 hours till my wife came and got me and then rushed to the emergency for hypothermia. Don't send your loved ones here unless you want them to die. God bless anyone going here and I pray you do not get Thrisha as your Councelor. Once they get your money they will throw you out to free up a bed.

Galax should be shut down! My daughter was given methadone to ease her withdrawal but was never supervised or in a hospital setting! She had a seizure when I was there and there was no nurse or staff member to be found! One night she woke up to find a local homeless woman and drunk in the bed next to her! Apparently this woman walked right thru the front door and into her room! The staff is rude and unprofessional! The place is dirty and downright disgusting! My daughter almost died in Galax Life Center! After ten days I walked out with her...right thru the front door! No one around and we walked out! Then hopped a plane to Hazelden! They were appalled at the unmonitored methadone treatment not to mention the sheer filth and lack of nurses, staff, supervision...RUN! It is hell! You're lucky if you make it out alive! Should be shut down!

I had been to 7 day detox, a behavioral center and, then, finally Galax. I learned more there abt myself, my addiction and depression than I learned anywhere ever. They kept me comfortable while detoxing, and all the while, I got support and kindness. It's not all rainbows n butterflies but one clean day is worth so much more than I ever imagined.

I entered The Life Center of Galax, completely broken and hopeless, quite near death and with little belief that I could be helped. Since alcohol is physically addictive, it is important for an individual wishing to end their addiction to do so under proper medical supervision in order to prevent dangerous health repercussions. The Life Center provided a treatment program that not only saved my life, but provided me with a foundation of recovery. As of now I am in my fifth year of continuous sobriety and I could not be happier. I attribute the dedication of the Life Center staff and the caring and competent manner in which they took more of me as the largest factor within my ability to recover from a previously hopeless state of being.

Last year I lost my job and resulted to some depression. I got involved with drugs and alcohol which brought me to a park place. My family sent me to Galax where I was able to restore myself in many ways. The counselors are very kind, compassionate and caring. I am now living a completely sober lifestyle.

Galax saved my life. My grief and loneliness seem to be much better now and I have shed minimal tears over issues since I have come home. My soul and spirit has been restored in me and am living a healthy sober life.

I was not ready to return directly to my home environment and the aftercare planning coordinator helped me find a sober living situation that is perfect for me. I am thankful for the care they give even after treatment is finished and in helping to make sure their patients stay sober.
