Charles E Rapin, Attorney at Law

If I wasn't financially poor, then I certainly would have gone with another lawyer. Unfortunately, I am a single mother of 3 and few other options. I guess that I shouldn't expect more from a lawyer that charges a third of what other family lawyers in the area do. His only redeeming value is that he is aggressive. However, that doesn't necessitate that he is good nor knows what he is doing. I had an emergency order of protection against my friend ( my ex keeps saying it a boyfriend), and Charles Rapin did little to prevent my ex from walking all over me. I haven't seen my daughter now in nearly a month, and I have to wait another three weeks at the very earliest to get a chance to see her. At this point in time, it looks like my ex is winning, and may very well get to take my daughter out of my life permanently. What is Charles Rapin doing about it? Absolutely nothing! He wont even return my calls unless it is to ask for more money. Avoid this lawyer at all costs!

If you want a lawyer that is aggressive, then this one is for you. However, don't confuse aggressiveness for skill; Charles Rapin (how in the world he hasn't changed his name by now is beyond me) will show up and do the cursory work that is expected a lawyer, however, he seems to take a "cookie cutter" approach to all cases. Frequently his tactics seem to align with whatever is best to prolong the case at the expense of everything. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" is certainly true in his case; he charges roughly $100 an hour, however, his bills always seem rather high for that rate, and with no detailed billing or explanation as to how the hours racked up that high. That being said, if you are on a budget, then he is probably your only option, however, don't expect much out of him, and certainly don't expect him to ever return any of your phone calls.

never returned phone calls unless he wants money. He made the case last way longer than needed. Would not listen to our thought and concearns. Was very rude and often times did not show up for scheduled court dates. I honestly wish there was a way not to even given him one star- he does not deserve it. FYI we pretty much won our case. I am not a person who is mad because of a bad court trial... this is because he seriously is that bad of an attorney.
