Friendly's

i went to friendlys because the kids like the icecream, we got dinner terrible service not polite will not go again

I went to Friendly's in Hampton Bays recently (10/11/08) and was so disappointed. My kids love to go to the one in Riverhead, but this one in HB was much closer to where we live so we decided to give it a shot. We walked in and were greeted with a smile, but that's where the pleasantries ended. Our waitress (an older woman with short greying hair) zipped through taking our orders, did not ask us about drinks and did not even bring water. We did, however, get brought some really nasty coffee which we did not ask for and couldn't even make taste good with half the sugar packets on the table. Once our food arrived things just got worse. Half our silverware didn't have a complete set. All the food was cold, room temperature at best. The scrambled eggs tasted like cardboard and water. The toast was dry and slightly burned. I think the bacon came straight from the fridge and was left on the plate to "warm up" while the rest of the food was prepped. Half way through the meal I couldn't manage to choke down the coffee anymore and finally caught the waitress to ask for some grapefruit juice which was brought to me in a very dirty glass. I'm not sure how anyone could miss the flaking chunks of black stuff along the bottom HALF of the glass. My kids were bored to tears as they watched the kids at the table next to us color with the complimentary crayons and they sat with nothing but sugar packets and ketchup to play with. We got the check the next time we saw our waitress and quickly left the restaurant feeling very dissatisfied and still hungry since most of the food was inedible. Needless to say we won't be returning to that location. The trek to Riverhead is worth the gas when you all get to leave with a smile rather than a stomach ache.
