Overall
High Hopes...Huge Disappointment

My husband and I met some people for dinner one evening, and were excited to check it out since we are moving not far from there in another month. The restaurant is impressive looking from the outside and even more so on the inside. Once we made it past all of the fascinating historical Texas memorabilia our experience immediately went down hill. The young girl serving us was friendly, but entirely unattentive. I made the HUGE mistake of ordering the special, which was supposed to be blackened red snapper. It took 50 min. for our main course to arrive; thankfully we ordered an appetizer. My order looked a little odd, when they put it in front of me, but I was hungry and dove in to try it. For one thing, it's never a good sign when you need the steak knife when eating fish. Oddly enough it was cold, round and long like a pork tenderloin and nothing like a snapper filet, and curiously void of any flavor. I sent it back, which by the way is only the second time I've ever done that. The manager rushed out when informed to assist. I handed her the plate she gave my fish an odd look and then attempted to poke it with the fork. When she was unsuccessful she rushed it away and offered to bring me anything I'd like. I graciously declined since I now had a touch of a sour stomach (which got worse later that night, and Tums didn't fix it either) and shared my husbands steak and shrimp, which was alright.

Even his meal was a little reminiscent of Golden Corral. Eatible mind you, but not anything even approaching what you'd expect at a self proclaimed "up scale" Texas steak house.

My suggestion: Go in to the seperate bar area, enjoy a coctail or beer, paroose the Texas artifacts and then move on for dinner elsewhere!!

P.S. Shared the experience with a girlfriend who said she and her husband made the same mistake but when they went it smelled of open sewer inside. When they delicately questioned the waitress her response was, "Oh yeah, that happens from time to time."

Thank you very much for taking your time and sharing your experience. While we strive to exceed all guest expectations 110% of the time, we realize we will sometimes fall short. We are an individually owned private restaurant and are committed to utilizing our guest feedback as a tool to help us continue to grow and improve and better exceed the expectations of our guests. I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for your isolated poor expererince and also say sorry it has taken such a long time for you to recieve a response. I would love the oppurtunity to show you that this indeed was a very isolated incident and our quality of food has improved due to our continous commitment to only serving the highest of quality in food and drinks. We have just entered into our fourth year and are extremely greatful for the wonderful years Houston has shown us. In which time we have heard time and time again,"this is the best meal ive ever had" and we have made our way on to Tom Horans Texas' Top Ten Steakhouses three years in a row, we currently are number 5 and have made the list again for next year. And as for the sewage smell your friend experience we did have a gas leak that has since been repaired to eliminate the odor. Again thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, as always it was a great tool for us to use for improvement. Sorry again that we failed to exceed your expectations or simply meet them for that matter.
