        Very rude employees and over priced. Expensive fish died within 24 hrs. Rest of existing fish ok. Water tested by other fish store and told it wasn't my tank, must've been sick fish. Selmer's told me to "f" myself because they don't give store credit or refunds regardless if the fish were sick when I purchased them. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!

        It's not the puppies in the store that matter; it's the PARENTS. Ask yourself (or better, ask the owners) where they get their puppies, who the breeder is, and do they have an open kennel that you can visit to see the parents. If they refuse to give out the information, you may be dealing with a typical puppymill front (no matter how long they've been in business.) If you don't know what a puppymill is, there are plenty of sites on the internet. Buy from a responsible breeder or adopt, but do not buy puppies from stores that cannot give you the iinformation you should have. I've followed the trail of one store's (not Selmer's) back to their "local breeder" and it was a horror, and was eventually shut down. Be a loving, responsible owner and do your homework to help stop the suffering of the breeder dogs and the stores that profit from them.

        I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. The dogs are over priced and just sad to look at. We took our mother there (a recent widow) who was looking for companionship. We purchased the dog and a few days later (while the dog was still at Selmers - not yet picked up) Mom had a change of mind. The owner told her they would charge $700. After she broke down in tears he had her drive 30 minutes to the store and offered to only charge $300. Real nice guy. We've asked for the $100 deposit back and they're claiming that they have no receipts to back that, so now we're out $300 + $100. I hope that $400 from the elderly widowed woman helps you buy your children more expense Christmas presents. It's no wonder corporate pet stores are taking over. With people like this giving local business owners bad names I would think twice about buying from a local pet shop. Especially this one.
