Ilion Lumber Company Established in 1911, Ilion Lumber Company is among the oldest lumber yards in Herkimer County and one of Ilion's most historic businesses. From the start, Ilion Lumber's target market was the home builder, providing lumber and house building materials as well as operating its own mill. Over the years, the focus has shifted somewhat to the professional remodeler, but with its broad inventory mix of lumber, building materials, millwork and hardware, it's able to satisfy builders of all types. The "walk in" customer is also welcome to purchase product, whether large or small, for their home use. Purchased in 1999 by Al Cavo Jr., who also operates Cavo Builders' Supplies in Utica, New York, Ilion Lumber has increased its abilities to provide a wider breadth of product, including materials geared toward the commercial builder. Now, with its recently renovated facilities and modern delivery equipment-- including boom trucks-- Ilion Lumber is eager to help meet the needs of today's builder, remodeler and homeowner. Our affiliation with Do it Best, the nation's second largest hardware cooperative, allows us to buy with significant purchasing power to keep our prices competitive. Through Do it Best we can special order any of the 70, 000 different items stocked in the regional warehouse and receive them in just a few days.
