The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, also known as CUIAB, conducts the hearings of cases concerning claims for disability benefits. The board also holds hearings on petitions from taxpayers related to various assessments. It operates through more than 10 offices across California. The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board s offices deal with initial hearings and decide over 320,000 cases annually. The board also coordinates with the Employment Development Department (EDD). It publishes an index that provides a variety of information about precedent decisions. The board is responsible for enacting new rules and amending existing regulations. The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board is a part of the State of California.
