Welcome to the Northwest Autonomic Clinic where autonomic disorders such as Dysautonomia, POTS, and Autonomic Neuropathies are evaluated, diagnosed and managed. We understand that these disorders cause a large number of symptoms and that they may be severe and disabling, but they are chronic illnesses that take time, patience and trial and error to achieve improvement. Please note that our practice is designed to provide chronic disease management, not acute care. If you have a new symptom(s), you should be evaluated by your primary care provider in order to be sure that you do not have a new, unrelated problem. If you have worsening and/or acute symptoms you are concerned about, be evaluated by the nearest urgent care facility or emergency department. If you are having an exacerbation of your illness that cannot wait until your next scheduled appointment, we will schedule you for the next available appointment and/or add you to the cancellation list.
Emergency Care
Electrocardiogram
Laboratory investigations for autonomic disorders include laboratory testing (blood and urine), EKG, echocardiogram or other organ specific test such as gastric emptying studies, or urodynamic testing. The cornerstone of the autonomic evaluation is Autonomic testing or the Autonomic reflex Screen.

Neurology
Please note that any general neurology symptoms or conditions such as numbness, tingling, headaches, migraines, back and neck pain, should be addressed with a general neurologist as Dr. Armitano will be addressing your autonomic symptoms only.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Neurosurgical Consultations: Diagnosis and treatment of common neurosurgical disorders: BrainTumors, Pituitary tumors, Schwanomas, Surgical treatment of Spinal Disorders (Lower back and neck), Carpal Tunnel, Spinal Cord Implants.
Multiple Sclerosis
Patients who are experiencing difficult to diagnose symptoms involving heart, bladder, bowel, sweating among or other symptoms may have an underlying autonomic disorder and there are many causes of autonomic disease. Conditions that directly damage your autonomic nerves, such as diabetes, can increase your risk for autonomic dysfunction. Similarly, if you are being treated for cancer with a drug that is known to cause nerve damage, your doctor can make the diagnosis based on your signs and symptoms. Other well described causes of dysautonomia include multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders such as Sjogren’s, paraneoplastic conditions, and genetic causes. Also, some neurodegenerative disorders such as Multisystem Atrophy or Parkinson’s disease cause dysautonomia.

Psychiatry
Board Certifications: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology-Neurology with added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology; American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine; American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology

MRI
The quality and resolution of an MRI image is determined not just by the specifications of the scanner hardware (e.g., Field Strength, Rise Time, Slough Rate, number of coils, etc.), but also by a set of other seemingly obscure, but crucial, parameters that are manually selected by the technologist (e.g., slice thickness, pixel matrix, number of data acquisitions, etc.).
Radiology
Our scanning facility is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology and our scans are read by Board Certified radiologists. Same day appointments are always available.
Computed Tomography
Forty years have passed since 1974, when Neurological Associates of Washington was founded as a pioneering group in Seattle specializing exclusively in neurological illnesses. During these past four decades, our practice has evolved from an era when CT scans were hardly known, to one in which we now have—down the hallway in our Kirkland office—an MRI scanner. As our tools for battling disease have advanced, the passage of time has brought new challenges, some far distant from the clinical realm.
