Located in Kissimmee, Fla., Horizon Middle School offers classes from grades six through eight. Its academic program focuses on reading, writing and math skills. The school offers a broad range of electives in technology, drama, sewing, art, computers, physical education, media production, drama, personal development and Spanish. The school also provides supplies, such as pencils, crayons, pens, books, binders, folders, tissues, erasers and uniforms. Additionally, Horizon Middle School offers staff training opportunities in assessment strategies, team building, district policies, computer applications and discipline. The school organizes activities that include clubs and intramurals. It also operates a peer mentoring program in affiliation with the University of Central Florida. The school encourages parent involvement in school advisory council and mentoring programs.
