Fantastic

In the year 2003 of May, this doctor really helped my eye. Not sure if he remembers me or not but on my left eye, was badly swollen, horribly bloodshot (like a subconjunctival hemorrhage), my eye was bruised as well (no I didn't get into a fight), severe pain. I wasn't well, I suffered terrible migraine headaches due to because my eye was swollen, I was nauseous and couldn't keep food down. Well it all started when I had a normal bloodshot eye (pink eye) and the next morning I got up to get ready for school (was in 9th grade) I noticed in the mirror that something happened. Well at this time I was seeing an eye doctor at Walmart, well we made an appointment to see why it looks like that (horribly bloodshot, bruised, painful and causing me to feel nauseous and causing bad headaches); for an eye doctor who suppose to care for their patients didn't do anything for me; he just told me to put a cold towel on my eye and send me on to school. So my mom called my family doctor who worked UT hospital in Knoxville and explained everything.. She scheduled me to come right in to be seen, she just fit me in her schedule (not many doctors do that) so we drove up there and I was seen by her. She saw my eye and " Oh my what happened to you" I told her I woke up like this and I didn't know why or how it happened.. She talked what it may be and then told us in the room that she knew of a great eye doctor who specializes in Ophthalmology. She told us that it's her ex husband and his name was Dr. Gary Gitschlag and he's one of the best in Tennessee. She asked if we wanted to see him and she would call right there and have me scheduled down there at Children's Hospital to be seen by him.. We agreed and she called his office right in front of us and told the desk about my eye problem. And next thing I knew was I was on my way to Dr. Gitschlag's office for the first time (his waiting room was full of people but he fit me in as well) and I was glad because I knew he must care about his patients. Well anyway, as I was sitting in the waiting room and waiting to be called back, I was nervous I must admit. I got anxiety issues. Anyway, that time came when a lady with dark short curly hair (was super sweet and friendly) came into the waiting room area and called my name. Me and my mom got up and went back with her. She talked to me some and left the room she put me in. I waited in there for maybe 5 minutes. And here comes Dr. Gitschlag! Soon as he came in he said Hello to us and shook our hand and looked at me and said, "You must be the one being seen today and what happened?" I told him everything from the pink eye one day and the next day horribly bloodshot and etc. He gave me a normal examination and talked about it to my mom and had me sent across the street for a CT scan so he can see what it is. So we went to the other side and got a IV and then CT scan. Came back to his office and he talked to me again of what it was that caused it and what he's going to do to help fix it. He then prescribed these little pills to clear up the redness in the eye and to make the swelling go down. He then scheduled me to come back the next week. I can remember it like it was yesterday, I had an appointment with him 3 times a week for 2 weeks so he can keep track with it and the progress it was doing. I've had so many CT scans, about every time I had an appointment with him. I didn't mind at all. Fact, he is definitely a great doctor. Very testy doctors are rare, not many I've been to test you and I mean send you for tests, Xrays etc.. I call that a very caring doctor. I was blessed to have him for a eye doctor for the time I was 14 to 18.. And was devastated when I had to be referred to a new one due to becoming an adult and he works with children.. I seriously cried. Worried that my new one wouldn't be the same. Dr. Gary Gitschlag is very special in my book. In means, I recommend him to EVERYONE who needs a good eye doctor who seriously cares about their pa
