Been going here for years!

Great store! When I saw the for rent and moving sign go up I was saddened to think that they were leaving my home town! Luckily they only moved a block away and stayed in town! The new place looks amazing! The new place at 20 E. Looks so much more up to date and is much more organized. As a nikon shooter, I am always surprised to see that they have what I'm looking for in stock and don't have to order it and make me wait two weeks to get it. Heather and Ray have been in the photographic business for many years and know what they are doing. Hopefully I can call LaGrange Camera my home town camera store for many years to come.

Friendly staff. Had a bad flash, and while mine was out for repair, they loaned me another for a shoot while mine was being repaired. Prices aren't the greatest, but they make up for it with service and know their product. Even hard to get stuff such as polaroid film!

Terrible customer service! I w...

Terrible customer service! I went in to ask a question about my new Canon camera. The lady/owner told me since I bought it online she would not answer any questions. (I was buying accessories in her store so it's not like I was just hanging around wasting her time.) The literally put her nose up and walked away from me in a huff!! ( After giving me a lecture about how I should have supported local businesses and not taken my business online) She said if I wanted to ask questions I should have bought it through her and not online. The price difference between buying through her and online was over $200!!! The extra lens and case I was buying was very overpriced also. I walked out. Why would anyone buy anything in here?? Best Buy at least has a somewhat helpful kid there who will answer your question with a smile. I would imagine the 2 great reviews on her for this dump were from the owner herself. If you were trying to make me feel bad for not 'supporting' mom and pop stores, you did the exact opposide...I willl NEVER step foot in yours again.

Anachronistic Attitudes...and Film

I've shopped here on several occasions but each time I am less than enthused about this operation.

I am not sure if the original owner is still there, but his daughter is (the one that tata-fed her kid in the back while he waited on my a couple of years ago). I bought a carton of various outdated films which contained some really bad (as it turned out, consistently underexposed) grey market Kodak Ektapress 100 rolls. If they ever had that film refrigerated I would have been surprised.

Film processing is very expensive and they are less than enthusiastic about talking to film camera buffs as they are about digital. Their older equipment and accessories are overpriced. You are better off getting darkroom stuff over the internet, in my opinion.

They have newer people there who are pretty clueless about film cameras since they have been spoiled in the digital age.

Horrible Experience!!!!!!

I never EVER thought I would be leaving the store in such humiliated anger! I came in with a box of misc. old equipment to see what if anything they would be interested in. I made it very clear to the gentlemen helping me that I was going to be using what I got for the items towards purchasing a new lens. He told me that you might only be interested in the camera lens because the bulk in the box was too out of date. We joked about the one SONY digital camera I was going to give to my son. As I was waiting a couple came in who were looking to make a purchase. I over heard them talking about “this was only $5,000” . I guess their purchase was more important because the owner came over to me with impatience and immediately had a defensive attitude with me. She started in on the disposed of items, and when I tried to talk, she talked right over me. She made it clear that she wasn’t a SONY dealer. They weren’t SONY but Minolta. Had she taken one second to look further she would see. Which I did wait patiently for your attention give me yours too.) As I bought the camera body and lenses new from this NEW. Therefore, you do or have sold them. I asked about the lens again and she rudely reminded me about how she was not a dealer. Never once did she look at anything but the one SONY camera we had already established they would not be interested in before she came over. At this point, I was so angry that I was being talked to and treated this way I stated that I would be going elsewhere to purchase my lens. At this, she got really nasty. Saying I was being rude. Never did I get a word in and never did I raise my voice. The only thing I said that she even listened to was that I would be taking my business elsewhere. I told her I would have taken 5 or 10 dollars for most but she thought I would be insulted at this. Ok then why did I suggest it. But it comes down to this, I guess my purchase was not as important as the couple waiting to speak to the owner. But then let us see even if I had bought the lesser of the two lenses I was looking at. Which is $1500 plus the lens guard and hood or the higher which is $2500 my purchase with tax would have been anywhere from $2000-$3000. But that must not have been a high enough purchase to make me someone worth a few moments of being LISTENED to. Or maybe let’s try this. I listed everything I have bought from this store in the last 15 years: (at least what I can fully remember) I figure I have spent close to $20,000 at the store. Probably more, I wish I had kept my receipts. I have referred so many clients there always trusting they would receive then hands on support I always received. As I have bought almost everything I own at your store. Never again. I will take my business elsewhere and tell all I know to do the same because all it takes is one horrible experience to completely ruin 15 years of customer loyalty.

Retail Service Not Forgotten

What a refreshing experience! My wife purchased a Canon Rebel XTI from LaGrange Camera for me for Christmas. I wasn't sure how to work the automatic features so I went to their store and asked for some assistance. When I mentioned the situation, the woman at the counter was able to remember my wife and her purchase. She was extremely helpfull and knowledgeable. Friendly people.
