Polk Avenue Elementary School is a coeducational charter institution governed by Lake Wales Charter Schools. It educates more than 500 students from prekindergarten through grade five. Its kindergarten curriculum focuses on language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, music, art and physical education. The school s language arts courses emphasize on reading, writing and speaking skills. Its science curriculum includes the basic concepts of observation, comparison, classification, prediction, measurement, organization and communication. The school also offers courses in Spanish. Additionally, the school provides counseling, tutoring and transportation services. Located in Lake Wales Fla., Polk Avenue Elementary School also operates a volunteer group and parent-teacher association.
