I would send my kid back here in a heartbeat. What a relief I felt that he was in a well run organization that had my son's best interest at heart. I was able to call and check in with the program owner whenever I wanted and he didn't sugar-coat anything. My son is making huge progress, I can see it with my own eyes when we visit. I definately recommend Serene Center in Long Beach.

They never give up. I was a total Bit** and tested them at every turn. But they saw the desire I had to be better and to give up the drugs. They never gave up on me, and they always supported me in a positive way. I learned to be humble, and I learned to stay clean. I actually have a relationship with my controlling Mother again too.

I found a safe haven here. My success rate with treatment programs and sober livings is not very good, but when I found myself at Serene Center, all that changed. I think the biggest thing that changed my life is the support I received from the other people staying at Serene Center. They are all so into their recvoery and helping others in their recovery too. I remember being interviewed by the owner Andrew and he asked me some tought questions. I didn't really understand why at the time, but I soon figured out that what he was doing is making sure that I really wanted recovery before he let me in the facility. This place is not about the money, it is about recovery. I saw them kick people out when they had no interest in sobriety and working a program. I also saw them give people several chances when they were desperate for sobriety and really wanted it. I think the owner's philosophy of supporting people in their recvoery effort as long as they really want it, and giving no support to anyone as long as they don't want recovery, really works. I was there for 9 months and it turned my life around. The groups, the counseling, and the awesome living space all contributed greatly. Perhaps my readiness had something to do with it too :-)

Serene Center is the perfect place to find recovery. I have been to many sober livings, and this place beats them all by leaps and bounds. They operate a professional program, keep the place clean and organized, there are no bugs or rodents, and they have great apartments.

I also have a son who spent several months at Serene Center. He has been in and out of treatment centers 4 times since age 17, and every time re relapsed on heroin within a few days of graduation. Finally we found Serene Center who was referred to us by his last treatment center counselor. We told our son he had no choice but to attend Serene Center and he reluctantly went. The first month was tought, however we began to see changes. I think the coping skills counseling was an amazing technique that my son had not encountered before. He has remained sober and seems like a different person: he is actually matured into a man. I am so grateful.

My son attended Serene Center for several months. I found the management there to be communicative and helpful, not only for my son, but also for me and my husband. We learned that it was not only my son's problem, but we had a part in the addiction as well. Now we all work a program of recovery and we are doing great. My son remains sober, in large part due to the excellent work at Serene Center, and my husband and I are getting along better than ever. Andrew Martin, the owner, told us what we needed to hear, not what we wanted to hear. I think his skill as an addiction counselor and at running a professional organization is outstanding. I consider one of the best days of my life the day that we found Serene Center for my son.

The counseling staff at Serene Center have helped me to figure out a few things about myself. I am now sober for the longest time I can remember in the past 21 years. The rooms are great, the people here are genuinely interested in sobriety, and the location is convenient for my meetings. Sometimes people drink or use, and when they do the staff acts immediately and with the best interests of the addict. I am a huge fan of this place, it is the best.

First off, don't pay attention to the negative reviews posted by people who get kicked out for using drugs. Second, Serene Center is without a doubt the best place I have ever been, and I have been in alot of places. This is the first place where they actually care enough to listen to me and help me out. the counselors and the owner Andrew are awesome! They did have a counselor for a short time who was causing big problems and she was fired. This place is helping me to stay sober one day at a time. When I have a problem, I can talk to them and they give me help. They drug test us every 3 days and they make sure I am working my program. I have never been treated this well in any other sober living. This place is awesome, and that is the truth!

Serene Center delivers on what they advertise. They truly fill the gap after primary treatment and before sober living, although they do sober living too. The facility is very nice and the rooms are big and new. They have a gym and a computer lab. They have AA and NA meetings on site and also conduct a family workshop program. They drug test every three days too. The counselors are great and the program manager is fair and caring. This is a great place!
