I see Katrina Wong, and I have to tell you, this has been the best decision I've made this pregnancy, both for myself and for my ability to deliver VBAC. I have twins that I delivered via cesarean. That pregnancy did quite a bit of damage to my pelvis, and abdomen. I also have scar tissue and nerve damage from the surgery all of which has led me to having a very uncomfortable second pregnancy. Very early on I started to experience the same searing/ burning pain through my pelvis that I had near the end of my twin pregnancy and beyond. I also noticed that my abdomen was getting quite large earlier then I expected.. Everyone told me it was normal to get bigger faster the second time, but no one caught on that I was getting bigger because I have DR, including my OB.. But Katrina knew. Katrina has given me engaging core workouts which has been a tremendous help with the most basic of things like being able to roll over in bed, or go from sitting on the floor playing with my toddlers to standing. I'm now 38 weeks pregnant and feel less pain then I did at 28 weeks pregnant. I honestly look forward to my weekly appointments with her. She takes her time explaining what's causing certain issues I'm experiencing, she always prints out and emails me great info to go even further in depth to explain how things are working in my body. I feel so much more aware and ready to combat my pregnancy pains. Katrina is someone I will continue to work with postpartum too. She's highly skilled, knowledgeable, and dedicated to treating her patients with respect and kindness. She feels like a genuinely caring friend to me. I feel like I can tell her anything that's hurting even if it's embarrassing. Pelvic floor therapy is super personal and I feel that Katrina treats it with compassion and dignity. She's also been a great resource in prepping me for childbirth. If she were a doula or if I were allowed to have more people by my side during my delivery (COVID), I would ask Katrina if she could be there. I even told her I thought she should become a doula on top of what she already does. Pregnant mamas you are in good hands seeing Katrina. She will treat you in a safe way and help make your pregnancy feel so much more comfortable!

I found PhysioFit through my friend who also had clogged milk ducts. I was having a persistence clog that wouldn't resolve and needed to unclog it. I'm in healthcare myself and I've never heard of therapeutic ultrasound that delivers heat to break down the clog. I've only heard of diagnostic ultrasounds. Katrina who is the physical therapist I saw explained that it's not new technology but usually used in PT to help with sore tissues and muscles. Katrina used the therapeutic ultrasound and massaging technique to get both of my clogs out! I felt relief immediately! The sessions was an hour and I was afraid I'll be uncomfortable while she worked on the clog, but Katrina was full of energy and chatted with me the whole time! The sessions are pricey ($290/session) but they were upfront on the cost and did try to bill my insurance. But since I have HMO insurance it was considered out of network and did not cover the session. However they do take FSA card and sometimes offer promos! In the end, super glad this place offers this type of service for lactating mothers.

I've been a client of Physiofit for many years and have gotten wonderful help from the staff to help recover from ankle, knee, and broken hand issues. They also have a very stable staff of physical therapists who have been with them a long time, which I think speaks well for the company and for the consistently high quality of service we receive.

Conversely, a chronic sports injury develops more gradually over time, often as a result of repetitive microtrauma to a specific tissue or area of the body. Untreated acute injuries can turn into chronic sports injuries too, which is one reason why I don't recommend ignoring a sports injury or "working through" the pain and hoping it'll just go away on its own.

Achilles Tendonitis
Karen first encountered Pilates back in 1987 at St. Francis Hospital’s Center for Sports Medicine and Dance Medicine. She needed help with a chronic Achilles tendon injury and was curious to see if Pilates could help. She knew, almost immediately, that she had found a robust system to rehab her injury and that Pilates would alter the course of her life. She spent over a year focusing on simply being a student of the method, and then in 1989, she became certified in teaching Pilates through the Center for Dance Medicine with Patrice Whiteside. With the encouragement of her teachers, she opened the first Pilates studio on the Peninsula in Palo Alto in 1990.
