Hard to give this doctor any star at all.
I'll start by saying that he is the sort of doctor who prides himself on puting his job first,. As one of his patients who was hospitalised for an attack of ulcerative colitis about a year ago, whatever advantage that should have given me as a patient was
destroyed because of his stubborn unwillingness to take me seriously.
I was hospitalised initially because of an extremely painful and debilitating attack of ulcerative colitis. After a couple of weeks i started to feel better and was beginning to eat solid food. But then I unexpectadly started reverting back, and was convinced that it had to have been something I ate (a funky fish dish, I thought at the time). Both he and his co-hort GI doctor Bae refused to acknowlege this as a possibility, and much to my horror, didn't even believe the ongoing excrucuating pain I was in, and severely cut down my pain medication(in Dr Bae's case, he woke me up late one night to advise me that he was stopping my intraveneous dilotid pain medication completely,,,I had to drop him as my specialist for that reason). In constant, unrelenting pain, I also had to
deal with Dr Sanchez, on a daily basis for the next three weeks pushing me into getting my entire colon removed. Overly worried about my possible addiction to painkiller, but very cavalier about my having my entire colon removed (I have a feeling that he had had a colorectomy himself), by the 5th week he essentially threw me out of the hospital telling me that if I didn't leave right away, I'd be escorted out by security.
I refused to get the cololorectomy, kept telling him that I knew something had happened at the hospital because I had been getting better, and I had to beg for mediciation to be put out of my constant excruciating pain that he didn't believe I really had..it was insane!!
So I went home that night and had a horrendous (turned out to be life threatening attack due to alarmingly low electrolite levels) that had me rushed to another hospital the very next day. And there it was discovered that I had in fact contracted something from St Vincent's and that something was called CDIFF.
I was in and out of hospitals for the next 3 months,in severe pain day and night, and down to under 100 lbs, But once the CDIFF disappeared so did my symptoms, completely.
No colorectomy needed. What was needed was a doctor who would take me seriously.
