If your dog is sick DON'T take him here !! These people just want money. I went mid July of 2015 on a Wednesday and wish I had gone somewhere else. The receptionist was "sweet" when talking about money but rude when it was about anything else. The vet only cared about getting more business not the wellbeing of my dog. I know that nothing can change my dog from no longer being here but this place was a trying to take advantage.

My 12 yr old dog wasn't eating and sleeping more than usual he also started crying when I would pet him in certain areas. I took him here they gave him a blood test and called me back 2 days later. The vet told me it was his kidneys and he started suggesting treatment i asked how much he said he would call me back in a few minutes. I got a call back from the receptionist saying it would start at $700 and go up if he didn't improve. I told them I would call them back she said no problem. (I started getting emotional and had to get off the phone)

Later that same day my dad called at around 5 pm my dad had some follow Up questions like "how bad were his kidneys" and "would this treatment cure him" they woman who answered was really rude she said "we already explained this to your daughter ask her" (umm NO you didn't) my dad asked to speak to the vet any vet so that HE would know what was going on she then said that the vet wasn't there and he wouldn't be there until Monday to call back then and hung up.

Really? Its 5 pm you don't close till 10 pm and you're open on the weekend so who's there taking care of the animals if the vet is gone?

I picked up his blood test results a few days later and took them to an other vet. When the other vet saw the results his jaw dropped he said his kidneys were really bad beyond saving he said anything he would try and do would just be painful for him and not cure him. I told him what the Echo park quacks suggested he said no maybe if he was a younger dog it might help but not in this case. He also said that based on the results something else was wrong as well. He touched my dog all over and he cried and tried to bite him. He said yeah your dog is in a lot of pain he's suffering the other place shouldn't have given you false hope. Its your dog's time to be at peace.

So it went from he needs treatment IV for a few days, antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory. Also a change in diet so he could get better. To his kidneys are really bad nothing is going to change that he is in pain.

I'm glad someone was honest with me but mad that echo park wasn't. all they wanted was money it didn't matter to them if the treatment would make my dogs' last days painful and uncomfortable they just wanted to get paid.

F this place.

Great Care at Excellen Prices

Dr. Filipescu has been taking care of our 14 yr. old dog Lucy for four years. He is devoted to her care and every time she has had a problem, he has known exactly what to do. Recently, he performed surgery on her to remove a grapefruit-sized tumor from her chest. He came in early on a Saturday to do this. She came through with flying colors due to his expertise. Her post-operative care has been superb. The doctor explained everything to us, and while his English is not the best, if one is patient and asks questions, one will get all the necessary information. The front office is kind and caring, and the place is spotless. Dr. F's rates are much less that those of other vets who are not as attentive or available. His asst. is a deaf man who loves animals. You cannot go wrong taking your pet to Echo Park Animal Hospital. Lucy is never afraid going in there, as she was at our other vet. Thank you, EPAH!!!

wonderful

My cat got very sick all of a sudden and I took her to Echo Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Filipescu was so generous and kind and caring. He kept her for two days, overnight, free of charge, to keep her under his observation because she was very sick and deteriorating rapidly. He gave her antibiotic shots and pain shots and fed her wet food, vitamins, and water from a syringe every four hours to make sure she got nutrients and hydration when she couldn't eat or drink water. I ultimately had to put her to sleep because she kept getting worse and wasn't responding to antibiotic and anti-inflammatory treatment. Dr. Filipescu let me stay with her as long as I wanted during the euthanasia and was very sweet to me after it was over and I was upset. He even called me a few days later when test results came in to give me more information about what made my cat sick even though she had already passed away. He is knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. I took my cat to another vet in between visits to Echo Park Animal Hospital and the other vet basically gave me the same information I got from Dr. F and the same recommendations on how to proceed with her symptoms. I had no problems communicating with Dr. F, he answered all my questions -- and believe me I had tons of them. Overall, he obviously cares very much about the animals and about their owners too. Plus, all the treatment he gave my cat over the course of three days amounted to $264. He didn't even charge me for the euthenasia. Anybody who thinks he is doing this for the money is just wrong.

DO NOT TAKE YOU BABY THERE!!

My kitty was traumatized for 3 days, did not eat, was stressed, depressed and terrified! I'm ashamed to say I read the reviews and thought maybe it was just a few isolated incidents and since it was a local hospital thought I'd give it a try. I also walked out crying! She went in only for shots and a mani-pedi but they could not control my lovable pet and ended up sedating her. There was absolutely no TLC on behalf of the doctor or his assistant, they were very "clinical" about the whole thing and were not informative at all. I kept asking questions and my only response was a mumble, not to mention that when I asked about whether she would have to be kept over night after being spayed I got opposite answers from the doctor and the front desk attendant. Also, I paid for an exam and they did not check anything except her weight and temperature, she clearly has ear mites and they didn't even notice. Pet lovers, please do not make the same mistake I did, take your baby somewhere else! You wont be sorry.
