Depending on your child’s age, the first exam involves a comprehensive examination of your kid’s teeth, gums, bite, and other oral structures. Where absolutely needed, a dental x-ray can be recommended for older kids. If your child hasn’t had prophylaxis in months, we offer gentle teeth cleaning to remove plaque and tartar above and below the gum line.

These services include dental sealants; however, these thin coverings are appropriate for adult patients, too. Space Maintainers
Typically, your child loses their baby teeth when their permanent teeth are about to erupt. However, due to injury, decay, or other reasons, some children lose their teeth too soon before the permanent teeth sprout. Fillings
Composite fillings, also known as tooth-colored fillings, are made from a mixture of plastic and fine glass particles. Crowns

The teeth that naturally erupted and developed with us each include a natural crown, the white part of the tooth that is visible when we smile. Healthy teeth are stabilized in the jaw with roots that extend into the supportive bone and surround the pulp chamber, which includes blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. As a tooth is maturing, the pulp provides the nourishment that it needs to grow and develop properly.
Bridges
For instance, the dental bridge comprises a pontic or replacement tooth that is stabilized by two neighboring anchor teeth. It is not “rooted” in the jaw. Instead, the anchors must be crowned. So, they have the strength to hold the pontic in place. This feature also makes the dental bridge less conservative than newer forms of tooth replacement because all crowns require the removal of tooth structure. By removing enamel, the crown fits over the tooth properly.

Deep Cleaning
Scaling and root planing is often referred to as “deep cleaning.” Healthy gums are firm and hug the teeth well. As gum disease develops; however, pockets form between the teeth and gums. These “periodontal pockets” are indicators of the presence and severity of gum disease. In fact, our hygiene team uses special instruments to gently probe and measure the depth of these pockets. The “baseline” (healthy gum tissue) measures between 1 millimeter to 3 millimeters. Any pockets that are deeper than 4 millimeters are indicative of gum disease and require treatment.

Dentures
Likewise, conventional dentures use prosthetic teeth and gums. They are held in place with natural suction in the jaws or adhesive denture products. Again, they are not designed like natural teeth.

Dental Implants
