Otoplasty
Otoplasty procedures are usually out-patient and can be performed under General anesthesia or monitored IV sedation. We prefer the use of IV sedation as there is less postoperative nausea compared to the use of General anesthesia. With either anesthesia type, you should make sure your anesthesia is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist, in a fully accredited surgery center. Be sure to ask your surgeon about these credentials!

Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing of the skin is a method to make the skin of the face appear younger looking. Generally speaking, the laser creates damage to the top layers of the skin, which signals new cells to be regenerated. Although it is not ‘surgery,’ it is a procedure which requires some degree of sedation or anesthesia. It can be performed in an office setting under local anesthesia, or it can be performed in the operating suite at the same time other procedures are being done.
Gynecomastia
The development of gynecomastia often begins in puberty, although it can also first present as an adult. Gynecomastia can be precipitated with certain medications, and in particular, the use of steroids. The condition is often associated with increased ratios of estrogens/androgens that circulate in the bloodstream.
Cosmetic Surgery
I prefer the use of monitored IV-sedation anesthesia instead of General anesthesia. With IV anesthesia, you are awake as soon as the procedure is over, and most patients do not have any postoperative nausea. At my AAAASF accredited surgery center, the IV Sedation is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist.
