X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
Like many kinds of cancer, oral cancer can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated early. During the patient’s yearly exams, Doctors Florio and Kohner perform oral cancer screenings to make sure the patient is cancer free.

Teeth Cleaning
We always start with the least invasive option. The first treatment is a cleaning called “scaling and root planning.” With this treatment an ultrasonic cleaning device is used to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth under the gum line. The rough surface of the tooth and the root are smoothed out (planed), resulting in a healthy, clean surface that makes it easier for the gum tissue to re-attach to the tooth. If the tissue or bone surrounding your teeth is too damaged to be repaired with non-surgical treatment, several surgical procedures are available to prevent severe damage and restore a healthy smile. We will recommend the procedure that is best suited to the condition of your teeth and gums.

Fillings
Resin Composite
At our office, we exclusively use composite resins instead of silver fillings. We provide our patients with the newest and best alternatives, bonded composite resins. Dr. Florio and Dr. Kohner make every effort to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible in restorative procedures
Veneers
Porcelain Veneers – Porcelain Veneers are custom-made, tooth-colored covers. They are used to close gaps or cover teeth that are stained, crooked, or misshapen. When applied properly to your teeth, they can give you a beautiful new smile. Veneers are very durable, non-traditional “caps.” The formation, and fitting, of them can be completed in a few short visits.
Crowns
All Porcelain Crowns – These modern crowns are very appealing. If you’re self-conscious about your smile due to cracked, broken, decayed, or worn teeth, we can bring back your healthy, natural-looking smile with dental crowns.
Bridges
Bridges – If you have lost teeth due to an accident, injury, or gum disease, we can create a permanent “bridge” appliance to replace the missing teeth. A fixed bridge will prevent teeth from shifting, and stabilize your bite.
Dental Bonding
Bonding – Cosmetic bonding and contouring are procedures in which a tooth-colored material is applied layer by layer. Dr. Florio’s and Dr. Kohner’s artistic techniques of layering the material to the surface of the tooth aids in covering discoloration, repairing chips, breaks, and cracks, and closing gaps between teeth. Composite bonding is one of the most conservative, versatile, and affordable ways to aesthetically restore a multitude of cosmetic problems.

Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is highly successful and, usually, lasts a lifetime. Although on rare occasions, a tooth may have to be retreated due to a new infection.

Periodontal Surgery
After earning his dental degree from the NYU School of Dentistry Dr. Robert Florio completed a two-year externship at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine for Advanced Continuing Education in periodontal surgery. This extensive externship included a surgical residency along with lecture studies.
Deep Cleaning
Scaling, sometimes called a deep cleaning, is a non-surgical procedure used to prevent gum disease. It involves thoroughly cleaning the plaque, toxins, and tartar from your teeth and root surfaces.

Dentures
Full dentures are given to patients when all of their natural teeth have been removed. Conventional full dentures are placed after the gum tissue has healed, which can take several months. Immediate full dentures are placed shortly after the teeth have been removed and may require frequent adjustments during the first few months of use.
Overdentures
From beginning to end, the entire process for overdentures takes several weeks. Depending on your situation, you can return to our office for a free consultation.

Dental Implants
Dr. Stephanie Cahill is a general dentist committed to providing comprehensive dental care with an interest in cosmetic and implant dentistry. Dr. Stephanie Cahill was born and raised on Long Island, NY where she discovered her passion for dentistry. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at Stony Brook University in 2015. She then earned her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at New York University College of Dentistry graduating in 2019. At NYUCD, Dr. Cahill was an active member of ASDA and attended legislative and leadership conferences throughout the country. She was also selected to be a teaching assistant for preclinical fixed prosthetics as well as an anatomy tutor for her peers.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
In addition to his residency at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Dr. Florio also completed a two-year externship at Nassau County Medical Center for oral surgery. This too entailed a two-year surgical residency. Once the residency was completed he chose to remain on the staff for an additional five years as a general dental consultant to the oral surgery department.
Tooth Extractions
It is possible that patients may experience pain the first day after their dental implants; some residual pain may linger on the second day. When compared to a tooth extraction, dental implants tend to be less painful.

Invisalign Orthodontics
During a complimentary consultation, Dr. Florio and Dr. Kohner will determine if Invisalign is right for you. Invisalign uses a series of removable, comfortable aligners which are invisible to the naked eye. Before we begin the process you will receive a computerized animation of how your teeth will look at the end of the treatment.
Braces
Invisalign works well for adults and teenagers. In a short period of time these invisible, plastic aligners can give you a beautiful smile without braces.

To help you get, and keep, your teeth the ideal shade of white we use the internationally renowned KöR Whitening System.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Florio and Dr. Kohner have continued their education through the prestigious Pankey Institute and the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry. They own one of the largest collections of audio and visual continuing education libraries, with numerous books and journals to keep abreast with the latest trends. Dr. Florio and Dr. Kohner regularly attend seminars to learn about the advancing technologies, they are proud to pass these on to their patients.
