Petco

Over the summer I was searching for the Fluval405 and petco was the only place that had a nice looking one (undamaged box). I had checked out their tanks and they looked healthy and so did their happy alert and playful fish. Today after raving to my husband about this place and why we needed to go to this pet store to find our fish a playmate I was in utter disgust at what I was showing him.

Their tanks looked like they were well seasoned but were now unhealthy and uncared for. After walking past a wall of uninterested fish we came to the tanks we were looking for. One fish had been dead for quite a while and left to decompose in the tank in plain sight. The other tanks also had very sick looking fish, dead fish were sitting at the bottom of the tank and the fish that just arrived looked like they were in the early stages of fin rot. The tank behind us had a floor of dead fish bodies covering it. They had more fish in that tank then the tank could possibly handle. None of the fish were very active or interested in any attention.

Any fish owner knows that fish pass away for many reasons and that algae blooms fast but you need to maintain your tanks to keep a healthy tank and fish.

Their selection of fish products was also at a minimum. Needless to say this will be the last time I shop at this store.
