Staff is rude and condescending. Would never go back. There are too many other great places out there that offer the same range equipment and a better experience so I will never return.

I don't understand the poor customer service reviews. I went in to buy my first handgun, and the "old guy" helped me. He answered every question that I had thoroughly, was really friendly, and helped me find a gun I am comfortable with. While he was doing my paperwork, the woman there answered more of my questions and was well educated on guns. She was very nice and helpful. I looked up the price I paid for my gun online, some were $50 less, most were $50 to $100 more, so I got a fair deal. I asked what other things I needed to buy with my gun, and was told nothing...I had what I needed in the kit for now. Didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't know if I needed or not. Maybe it's the ego you walk in the door with that causes the friction...I honestly got great service.

A few members of the staff are very rude. There transfer prices are outrageous and inconsistently applied. I think because they strap on a gun to work each day they somehow think their special. I transferred a large caliber hand gun through there once and when the box was opened a person behind the counter began ranting on about experience with such a weapon. I have several and 40 plus years with handguns of large caliber. I thought the guy was a real jerk and did not bother to respond. I have actually transfer several dozen guns through Double Action, purchased a few there, and used the range on numerous occasions. All the little things add up but mostly the arrogance of some of the staff is just too much. I found it so distasteful the last few visits that I no longer go to Double Action for any reason. There are better places to go. I have to drive further but it is worth it.

I appreciate Double Action so much more now My uncle and I visited Target Sports on 5/11/14. Our original destination was Double Action which was closed because of Mother’s Day. Upon arrival at Target Sports we were happy to see the place was not crowded and there was no wait for the range. Everything went downhill from there.
We were not allowed to use or take our long gun ammunition into the range. All long gun ammunition had to be purchased in store. I can understand a range not wanting to let a shooter use reloaded ammunition. However, I had unopened boxes of factory .556 and .223. I don’t like being bullied into buying range ammo.
Next we get a speech about hitting the target hangers. The guy tells us that if we hit and break the target holders we have to pay for the damage. What is he talking about? IF I COULD SHOOT THAT WELL I WOULD NOT NEED TO PRACTICE!!!!!! Now I am not having fun, worried that I could possibly damage a hanger and be charged, I think he said $125.00. I am not a marksman, that is why I was there to practice!
The guy tells us we have 30 minutes. We ask for an hour. He says well we could but if it gets busy we limit the time to 30 minutes. I can understand that, if the place was busy. When we walked in 3 guys were using one range the others were empty. The store was empty of customers. Again…..what was he talking about? We can’t have an hour because of the rush they were expecting!!!!???? When our 30 minutes were up Rick Ector from “Rick's Firearm Academy of Detroit” was giving a CCW class. The other ranges were empty. They didn’t get the rush they were looking forward to.
Perhaps this guy was simply upset because he had to work on the holiday. However, he made it apparent to us they didn’t want or appreciate our business. I am happy to grant his wish, THEY WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER DIME FROM US.

Their weapons are too Expensive, I've bought a Few Guns with them but found Cheaper ones online with free Shipping at Budsgunshop.com. I was getting them shipped to Double Action and paying a Transfer fee between $40 & $45 Dollar's as of 2013, I purchased a new weapon 3/2014 not knowing they increased their Transfer fee by almost 90% to $75, I was shocked and I asked why & the Salesman told me the Owner was mad because people was Buying guns online that he sold at a higher rate plus Taxes, plus no Veteran Discounts. To all the Veterans and Civilian shop at Budsgunshop.com and Budspolice. com for better prices and ship your Weapon's to any other place than Double Action.

Best in Southeastern Michigan.
This is one of the better Michigan gun ranges. It's clean. I love the actual gun range. Staff are friendly.
The only downside is that when I go to Double Action, there is usually a pretty long wait. The nice thing is they have tables where you can sit and wait and read gun magazines and you don't have to just roam around the store for the whole time.

For being a gun shop, one would think they're educated on ammunition. Unfortunately they don't allow 7.62x39 on their range, their reason being is that they say all "AK" ammo is dangerous due to a steel core. Their magnet test would certainly make a good case to someone who didn't know that it's really only the thin bi-metal jacket that sticks to a magnet, not the lead core absent of any steel. It's a shame that they perceive any and all ak/akm type rifle owners as thugs. Oh yeah... Haha they allow 30-06 though which has almost twice the velocity as the 7.62x39. Just a big disappointment for probably the nicest gun range in Michigan.

I agree with the reviewer complaining about the cigarette stink in the showroom and I'm a smoker. What's ridiculous is that on the ranges, that are well ventilated, you're not allowed to smoke!
I have gotten very good help from the counter staff there. They're pretty knowledgable and take the time to answer questions.
And their ranges and rentals are very nice. One of the pistols I was interested in wasn't offered as a rental but he brought one out of the case for me to try out anyway. Very nice and I bought it.
I don't like the fact that they don't have signage stating they don't allow 7.62x39 firing weapons on their ranges. I only found that out through an online forum. I tried to take my SKS in there and was told they don't allow them. When I asked why the range guy said he didn't know but that the owner just didn't allow them. Then he said they had some problems years ago with people using ammunition that was bad for their range. (Wait a second I thought he didn't know why) I asked if I could bring my Ruger Mini 30 (same ammo) in and he said, "We never had any problems with Mini 30 users", implying I could. Still didn't tell me no 7.62x39 allowed. I found out later about the 7.62 ban so I didn't take my Ruger there.
I did however go there and worked a deal on buying a $1700.00 rifle chambered in 7.62x39. Showed him my credit card and a wallet full of cash for a deposit and had the paperwork ready to sign. Then when he tried to sell me the range deal too I asked him if I could shoot this gun at their range. When he said no I said deal off!
They would sell me a $1700.00 rifle - and a range deal - but I couldn't even shoot it there! They do make it clear that AK47s are not allowed but they don't tell you it's because of the ammo. Easilly the most produced cartridge in the world! So people who want to hunt, target shoot, and defend themselves on the cheap with this round aren't allowed there. I don't like that. But it's their policy and my whining review isn't going to change that. But it does knock their star rating down a bit.
