Dr. Schaefer or Dr. Roenitz will meet with you for an initial consultation and perform a comprehensive evaluation during this visit. She will evaluate the current condition of your oral health including, but not limited to, decay, bone loss, mobility, oral lesions, your chewing function, missing teeth and your aesthetic concerns. She will also perform an oral cancer screening. She has over 18 years of specialized prosthodontic experience and has performed the most complex restorative procedures with ease and efficiency.

Marcos has been a dental laboratory technician for over 30 years. He received his diploma from McCarrie Schools of Health Sciences and Technology in Philadelphia. After working in a private practice setting for years, he then worked with Dr. Schaefer at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After that, Marcos joined Dr. Schaefer working at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was trained to be an integral member of the Maxillofacial Prosthetic team. He became an expert at fabricating intra-oral and extra-oral prostheses for head and neck cancer patients. When Dr. Schaefer relocated to Madison, she invited Marcos to join her and the team at Prosthodontics of Madison. Marcos is a master at creating custom fabricated crowns and dentures for our patients. Through continuing education, he stays up to date on state-of-the-art techniques, materials and digital technology. When not working in the dental lab, Marcos is playing baseball or basketball, biking, walking his dogs, talking cars, and spending time with his wife, Kristi. Marcos grew up in Puerto Rico and whenever he has a chance, he travels back home to visit family and friends.

Restorative Dentistry
One practice feature that differentiates us in Madison is our state of the art on-site dental lab, led by our highly skilled Senior Certified Lab Technician, Marcos Amaro, a gifted artist in restorative dentistry. Dr. Schaefer and Marcos have worked together for over 15 years, since working together at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (PENN). Combined, this team brings over 40 years of experience in recreating the function, beauty and comfort their patients deserve, right here in Madison.

Root Canal Treatment
Kristi is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and started her dental career as a Dental Assistant in 2003. She has worked in both Prosthodontics and Endodontics before starting her office management position with Prosthodontics of Madison. Kristi loves having the privilege of helping our patients, our staff, and has been an amazing part of our team for over ten years. She values and takes pride in working for an office with so much talent and with a team that is a ton of fun, yet hardworking. Outside of work, Kristi enjoys time with her husband Marcos, her two teenage daughters, their puppy Macy, and friends and family. Home is in Sun Prairie but, when possible, she loves to be in Northern Wisconsin or anywhere near the ocean.

Dentures
Prosthodontics of Madison is an advanced facility with its own on-site lab where implant restorations, dentures, crowns and other dental prosthetics are created in-house. Having this technology on-site gives Dr. Schaefer and her staff hands-on quality control. While many dentists have to order custom restorations from offsite laboratories, our work is done on premises, allowing for quicker turn around that would take other practices weeks.

Dental Implants
Ashlyn is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but moved to the La Crosse area in 2017. She graduated from Western Technical College with honors in Dental Assisting in 2019. Ashlyn worked in Oral Surgery before joining us in 2021 and her implant and surgical experience is a great addition to our team. She is more than a joy to have as part of our “work family”. Besides being a Dental Assistant, Ashlyn is a wonderful cat mom, loves to attend live music events and occasionally throws on the potter’s wheel.
