Best doggy day care in Madison. My dog has been going there for three years and its been great for him. The dogs get to be outside all day when the weather is nice. Dustin is fantastic with dogs and all the staff love dogs. Highly recommend.

The only place I will take my dog! The only downside I have to say about them is when I had my pit bull (now deceased) once when both dogs were being boarded, the pit bull was recorded as having bloody diarrhea. I told them to take both dogs to the emergency clinic and I would pick them up there (I worked there at the time). I nor any of the emergency staff ever saw any diarrhea.
This is what I didn't like: The person that called told me that "it was probably THAT time" because of the bloody stool (indicating time for my pit bull to be euthanized) if I hadn't worked at an emergency animal clinic and had the background I have, I would have FREAKED OUT! This is NOT something you want to tell someone that is 200 miles away on vacation, and bloody diarrhea does NOT mean they are almost dead, when they are acting normal. I also, had to go BACK to them to pay my bill, they didn't remember that I hadn't paid yet (darn conscience)! And even after he died of cancer, I told them of this and to take him off of my account, they continue to ask if he is going to be boarded (2 years later) when I take my current dog in, which makes me very sad.
Even though they had these couple flub ups, I know many people that used to work at Hickory Hills and they said that even behind the scenes the people are very caring, loving and good towards the animals. I lucked out finding this place, my dog loves it, it's affordable, and I wouldn't board him any other place!

Disappointed1
Disappointed that I take a healthy dog in for boarding and bring home a dog with 3 open sores and a $125.00 urgent vet bill. When the kennel owner called, She said they were not at fault with multiple excuses from too much time in a pool - it is not monitored for legnth if they are boarding- to it had to do with her thick under coat. Within a minute of picking her up we could smell the wounds. Lack of basic care is not we look for in boarding. Will not go back and I encourage others to look elsewhere.

I love this place! The best part is that my dog loves to go there! He drags me to the door! I have been to a few kennels in the past and NEVER has my dog enjoyed going to a kennel, until we tried Hickory Hills!

i brought both of my dogs to this place over memorial weekend 2008 for the first time. my mom and dad both bring their dogs there so i thought it would be fine. when i dropped them off the front desk asked me if it was ok for them to have playtime, and i said yes. both of my dogs have grown up around several dogs and love to play. when i picked them up she told me that my pit bull GOT bit and when i saw the wound it was so small it didn't even matter, so i was impressed with how close they "watched" my dogs. now comes the bad part and the reason i will never bring my dogs there again. when i got home i noticed a quarter sized gash on the top of my older dogs head it was very bloody and he was acting very funny. he then proceeded to have seizures for the next 24 hours straight. when i called to ask what happened they told me they did not know. and they also told me that my dogs were kept in the kennel all weekend because they "looked scary," even though i made it very clear that they were nice. and before you say well it's because he's a pit bull know that he's only 6 months old and would lick you before he would bite you. also as a side note check your bill, they charge for services not asked for and serviced that are not performed. if you don't love and or care about your pet bring them there, if you do then i would suggest anywhere else.
