Hunters Run

We lived the Hidden Ponds apartments (nearby and run by the same people as Hunter's Run) for about a month and a half, until our health was in jeopardy. They do not limit cigarette smoking, and at least half of the residents smoke frequently. The management is pretty nice, but they don't fix problems well.



When we first looked at a 2nd-story apartment in the autumn, we smelled a little smoke and asked about it. The manager said the lady on the 1st floor smoked, but outside, so it wouldn't be a problem. This was NOT the case! We took her word for it, even though my husband and I both have breathing problems, because the price was good.

A few days after moving in, the weather got cold and we turned on the house heater. A few hours later, there was so much cigarette smoke in our apartment, it seemed like WE were smoking!!! So we made them put an addendum on the lease, saying that they would keep smoke from coming into our apartment or let us get out of the lease without termination fees.

Over the next weeks, we worked with maintenance to sort-of take care of the problem. They said it came through the bathroom exhaust fans and was circulated by the heater. Even with air purifiers and the heat off (in the middle of winter), we couldn't get rid of it. After a while, they basically refused to do anything else. My husband had to be on a nubulizer for a week because of it, so we decided to move out.

So, yes, they let us out of the lease, but were very unclear about how much we owed. They were late paying the security deposit, and subtracted a month of rent (which we would have paid, if they had answered our questions about how much we owed).



The apartments themselves are spacious and fairly new, things work well, and there is a large parking lot. Besides everything smelling heavily of cigarette smoke and some residents being loud at night, it's an okay place to live. Definitely not the place for us!
