Hideaway Campground

I stayed at this place for a weekend and had an awful experience. Avoid it at all costs.

The camping area is okay, for a low end campground. Very little grass and you’re almost on top of the people around you. There’s a lot of nice shade from trees though, which is it’s one redeeming feature.

The swimming pool is quite nice.

The real problem with this place is the staff. It was like visiting North Korea. Lots of random rules enforced without regard for reasonableness or consideration for their customers. It was difficult to know what the rules even were - sometimes multiple contradictory versions were published, and some really important ones weren’t published at all. I don’t know how they stay in business with staff that treats customers the way they do - maybe it’s all first time customers. I’m certainly never going back.

I made reservations for 8-9-2014 and then found out I had to work and could not keep them, I called them as soon as I found out and was told no refunds..nothing else was offered....the night of 8-9-2014 I start getting calls from them ..now things have changed,,,,oh we want to work with you...I get the feeling this place is run by kids with no customer service training ...and after reading the other reviews here I am sure of it.....save your money go elsewhere

I normally don't write reviews but if our experience saves just one person from making a mistake at staying at this campground this review is worth it. We made reservations and explained the size of the camper we had. The site they gave us was very small and near the front entrance and playground. We have no kids so we were hoping to have a quiet site. Not the case as had to deal with kids running through our campsite all weekend long. The site next to us they allowed so many people & tents on the site they were literally within inches of our fire pit. Because of this we were unable to have a campfire. My wife had taken our dog to the area for dogs to do their business and a couple of kids almost ran over her and our dog with their bikes. Keep in mind the campground handed us a sheet of rules and said they enforce them. When my wife talked to one of the employees that had witness these kids all he said was yeah they have been doing that all day. My wife asked if he was going to go talk to the parents about the kids all he did was shrug his shoulders. They have all these rules that they are unwilling to enforce. Might as well use the rule sheet they gave us to start the fire we couldn't have. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. I have stayed at a lot of other campgrounds in the area and this one by far is the worst. Save your money or go elsewhere.

I called and reserved 3 campsites a month before our expected stay. I was very specific about needing all the campsites right together and was assured that we would have just that. Upon arrival, we were informed that 2 campsites were right next to eachother and the 3rd was across the road. I tried to explain to the clerk that I was assured that all three campsites were right together, not seperated like that, she said that the site were together! Umm, no! Just because the lot numbers ran in order did not put them together! After several minutes of trying to resolve the issue and getting no where...I decided just to let my family decide where to set up. We had a large motorhome with a car trailer pulling a dune jeep (which we were very specific when we made our reservations that we had all of this equipment and needed to make sure we had enough room for everything, again was assured that we would be provided with larger lots to accomodate our needs), a pop-up camper, a tent, a full sized truck and a three wheeler. Once we got to the campsites, we quickly realized that the sites we were giving would not fit all of the equipment that we had, as I started to the office, I was approached by a man whom I assume is the owner of the park. I explained to him out issues, his response: "Be happy with what you got, all the sites have been reserved since May." And he drove away. When the people arrived in the ajoining campsite (which originally had my name on it and had been erased and moved across the street), we asked them when they reserved their site, I was very upset to learn that they had reserved their site 5 days after I reserved all of our sites!!! During our stay, my daughter and her husband had their camp fire DROWNED by campground staff, without giving them a chance to put it out so they could re-use the wood. My daughter tried to explain that all of our cell phones showed we still had 30 minutes left before the campfires had to be out. She was told that cell phones often changed to Wisonsin time and that it was our problem for not paying attention! Every single time anyone in our party had to go to the office/store for anything, we were met with rude employees/owners. None of the reservation cards were accurate, reservation names were erased and people were moved to accomodate as the staff's needs!!! This place does not put their campers first, they have TERRIBLE customer service! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!
